Basic Job Functions:





Nucor Steel-Nebraska is a division of North America's most sustainable steel and steel products company, Nucor. At this division we manufacture special bar quality, merchant bar quality, and rod material. Our engineering team works with our on-site melt shop and two rolling mills and plays a key role in the safety, environmental, and capital expenditure projects.


Nucor Steel Nebraska is seeking applicants for an Electrical Engineering Coop on site to start as soon as September 2024. Electrical engineering co-ops will work closely with an electrical engineering mentor as well as with mechanical engineers, maintenance, and production teammates to execute continuous improvement projects on-site. Your responsibilities as an electrical engineering co-op will vary day to day as you will be involved in many different aspects of engineering. The electrical engineering co-op will be exposed to power distribution design, electrical construction engineering, hardware and software automation engineering, and technical support for maintenance and operations. All these components and more come together to be able to lead a project from conception to completion and support the facility. Eligible candidates will have the intention to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering degree through an ABET accredited program.


Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.




Minimum Qualifications:






  • Current college transcript showing current enrollment in a pre-engineering program at Wayne State College or Northeast Community College.

  • ACT/SAT scores; upload to application packet if available and if not available, candidate must provide before interview.

  • Candidates must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week. Hours will be flexible around school schedule

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the U.S.

  • Candidates are able to provide one teacher and/or advisor reference





Preferred Qualifications:






  • 2nd year student in a pre-engineering program
