Job Description:

**We are offering a $750 sign-on bonus for new hires who accept a full-time offer. The bonus will be paid out upon successful completion of 90-days of employment from date of hire**




Summary:




Looking for a new career in healthcare!? The Ophthalmic Assistant Training Program at Massachusetts Eye and Ear is designed to give trainees the opportunity to gain clinical knowledge and skills to start a rewarding career in Ophthalmology. An ophthalmic Assistant is responsible for gathering and documenting pertinent clinical information which allows Ophthalmologists to diagnose, monitor and treat patients with ocular problems. Successful candidates are eager to learn, motivated, have strong communication and interpersonal skills, are detail oriented and are committed to providing exceptional patient care.


The paid Ophthalmic Assistant Training program is a 2-3 month long program with a curriculum that combines classroom lectures, online modules, hands-on skills practicum and in clinic training/practice. Trainees will have the opportunity to train and work in many Ophthalmology subspecialties including Oculoplastic, Comprehensive, Cornea, Glaucoma and Retina. After successful completion of the program, trainees will continue to work as Ophthalmic Assistants at Massachusetts Eye and Ear and are eligible to sit for the JCAHPO Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) Exam after completing 1,000 clinical hours. This training program will be for people interested in working in the Stoneham area - with initial training taking place at our main campus in Boston. Parking costs will be reimbursed during this time.


**The Training Program will start on July 29th. Candidates who are interested in the program must apply by July 5th**



Qualifications

Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent is required PLUS experience in an ophthalmic or health care related setting is preferred.

  • JCAHPO certification required within first year of hire.
