JOB SUMMARY:



To support the research project sponsored by the Arnold and Mabel Backman Foundation. Other duties as assigned.



JOB DUTIES:



40% - Essential - Preparing and publishing papers



30% - Essential - Performing research in quantum materials, designing and conducting experiments



30% - Essential - Training/mentoring graduate and undergraduate students and keeping the lab's instruments up and running



MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:



Education - Bachelor's Degree in a related field and work experience directly related to the assigned and research area; or a high school diploma and advanced journey-level work experience in a clinical or research setting.





Work Experience 1+ years



PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:



Education - Doctoral / Professional Degree - Physics or Chemistry of related field





Work Exp 2+ years



Experience with measurements such as magnetization, electrical and thermal transport, heat capacity, quantum and topological Hall effect, and magneto-optic property.



Experience with Python and Density Functional Theory calculations (Wien2k, Quantum Espresso, LOBSTER)



Excellent oral and written communication skills.



Experience in working collaboratively with students



RESPONSIBILITIES



JOB KNOWLEDGE

Fundamental Job Knowledge - Fundamental working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to apply in varied situations



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.



BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES

No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

WORK SCHEDULE:



Standard Hours: 37.5



COMPENSATION INFORMATION



Expected Salary Range: $40,000-$50,000





Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.



ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL



Normal Operations



Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
