Job Overview:

The John W. Kluge Center welcomes applications from post-graduate and emerging scholars for research in an array of subjects that can be supported by Library of Congress collections and digital resources. Fellowship positions are filled by a range of competitions managed by the Kluge Center. All nationalities eligible.

 


About The Kluge Fellowship

The Kluge Center encourages humanistic and social science research that makes use of the Library's large and varied collections. Interdisciplinary and cross-cultural research is particularly welcome in the Kluge Fellowship program. Twelve fellowships are offered each year to scholars in the humanities, social sciences, and professional fields such as architecture or law, for periods of four to eleven months.


Fellows Receive


  • $5,000 monthly stipend Individual carrels within the Thomas Jefferson Building at the Library of Congress to pursue their work Book delivery at the Library of Congress Access to Library of Congress special collections

The John W. Kluge Center was established in 2000 through an endowment of $60 million from its namesake, John W. Kluge.Occupying dedicated study and meeting spaces within the magnificent Thomas Jefferson Building, across the street from the U.S. Capitol, the Kluge Center invites into residence top thinkers and emerging scholars from around the world to distill wisdom from the rich resources of the Library and to foster mutually enriching relationships with lawmakers and other policy leaders.

The Kluge Center welcomes scholars and practitioners at the height of their fields for residencies as chair holders or as distinguished visiting scholars, and also encourages emerging scholars to participate in fellowship programs including The Kluge Fellowship, Fellowship in Digital Studies, David B. Larson Fellowship in Health and Spirituality, and the Philip Lee Phillips Society Fellowship.
