JOB SUMMARY:


Clemson University's University Development within the Advancement Division is looking for a Senior Director of Development & Unit Lead to fulfill the following duties:







  • Serves as Senior Director of Development and Team Lead within the Advancement Division, the University Development Team and leads development strategy for multiple colleges.



  • Provides strategy, leadership, direction, coordination and management of all levels of giving for all units/programs within the College of Science.



  • Develops priorities and philanthropic strategy in collaboration with Unit leaders for other colleges within the portfolio of leadership responsibilities.



  • Performs other duties as assigned.










JOB DUTIES:



60% - Essential - Fundraising:

Manages a dynamic portfolio of prospects/donors who have the capacity to make a philanthropic major gift of $50,000 or more. Qualifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards gifts from alumni and friends across multiple academic colleges through a combination of in-person and virtual donor visits and making major gift solicitations. Executes strategic cultivation and solicitation plans tailored to individual donor's interests, capacity, and philanthropic priorities. Raises a minimum of $1.5M on an annual basis with the goals for subsequent years determined in conjunction with the Executive Director. Primary fundraising focus on the College of Science.







20% - Essential - College Leadership and Engagement:

Establishes strong partnerships with the Dean and strategic leaders within the College. Leads efforts for the unit for the upcoming capital campaign by collaborating with the College and supporting unit/program leadership to develop philanthropic strategy that advances the key priorities for the campaign and the College's mission.Engages actively with the Dean and college/unit leaders in the cultivation and stewardship efforts of top donors and prospects. Serves as the primary liaison and mission-critical link between the Advancement division and the College and its supporting units/programs.







10% - Essential - People Leadership and Collaboration:

Directly supervises a team of development officers and internal support team members. Coaches and mentors them to achieve their fundraising and performance goals/objectives, providing constructive feedback and support when necessary. Leads comprehensive annual planning and performance review procedures, with team members. Assists in onboarding new team members and participates in required manager/supervisor activities, training, etc., as required to successfully oversee the work of direct reports. Collaborates with peer Unit Leads to ensure consistency and collaboration across the department.







10% - Essential - Strategy and Campaign:

Utilizes relationships with the Dean and other key leaders to advance the philanthropic strategies and fundraising priorities of the assigned colleges, including the Fiercely Forward campaign. Facilitates collaboration with and communicates priorities to team members across the Advancement division who are essential to the fundraising efforts. Manages the College of Science campaign cabinet with support from the Unit Lead Liaison. Communicates, collaborates, and coordinates between the College and Advancement division, as well as creates productive partnerships with other college and unit fundraising programs.








MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:





Education - Bachelor's Degree

Work Experience - 3+ Years

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitors Budget - Does not provide input but is responsible for monitoring the departmental budget and mayoversee fund allocation.

Standard Hours: 37.5 / Week






COMPENSATION INFORMATION





Expected Salary Range: $108,959.00 - $140,000.00





Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's Compensation Guidelines.





ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL



Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives and not normally expected to work on-site during emergency situations.
