Under broad supervision, perform a variety of engineering work requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criterial in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks. Assists in the planning and design of products, tools, and equipment. Incumbents receive specific and detailed instruction regarding required tasks and expected results. Tasks typically relate to design, layout, verification and reliability of mechanical and electromechanical food service products and systems. This is an entry level position, typically with little or no practical experience.



Qualifications




Major Accountability

  • Works to launch new product designs, product improvements, test analysis, production, and service liaisons.
  • Responsible for timely, cost-effective development of product designs, component and material requirements, bills of materials, and assembly instructions for commercial equipment.
  • Resolves highly complex technical issues and may conduct advanced research on relevant projects and programs.
  • Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures

Key Tasks and Responsibilities




  • Prepares concept sketches, detail drawings, design models, and specification documents for product designs.
  • Prepares root cause analysis, test performance, schedule, and cost information, as required.
  • Prepares progress reports, feasibility, and concept studies, etc., as required.
  • Assists in the preparation of manuals and training materials for the manufacturing operators.
  • Performs highly technical engineering work including material selection, structural requirements, tolerances, aesthetics and testing.
  • Assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering evaluation tests, products, or equipment when necessary data are insufficient or confirmation by testing is advisable

Specialized Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities




  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of CAD programs; ProE/Creo is preferred.
  • Experience in using QAD ERP software a plus.
  • A basic understanding of design theory and the ability to read and prepare drawings.
  • Knowledgeable of fundamental engineering principles concepts, practices, and procedures of a field of specialization.
  • Foodservice equipment industry knowledge is preferred.
  • Occasional travel < 10%
  • Able to lift 35 lbs., walk on the manufacturing floor, stand for extended periods of time, sit for extended periods of time, sit for extended periods of time, travel by air or car.
