In House Counsel Externship to provide law students with an understanding of the roles in-house lawyers play while offering them an opportunity to experience that work firsthand. This position is based in Kroll's NYC office, and takes place during Fall 2022 with possibility of extension into Spring 2023.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This externship will explore areas of the law that are integral to in-house corporate practice, including corporate governance, contracting, risk allocations and best practices, infrastructure maintenance and development, technology/vendor considerations, mergers and acquisitions, cyber security, and litigation. Participants will work on projects to support operations, business needs, and organizational policies and procedures; interface with Kroll's leadership; and receive training to develop analytical, research, and communication skills and legal knowledge, and build strategies for successfully navigating the interplay between law and business.

This position it subject to Kroll partnering with a Kroll approved law school externship program and related conditions. Successful candidates will receive hands-on training consistent with such law school's approved curriculum and will, subject to such school's program, be eligible for academic credit.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • A bachelor's or master's degree from an accredited college in a related field of study
  • Rising 1st or 2nd year law student at a U.S. accredited law school (transcripts may be requested)
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
  • Outstanding attention to detail and the ability to produce consistent, quality work
  • Demonstrated leadership
  • Strong computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Must be able to work independently on assigned tasks and as part of a team
  • Professional and commercial approach to problem solving and strong team ethic
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future
