The Benefits Administrator is responsible for developing and implementing all benefit and retirement (401k) plans for the BIOTRONIK US companies. This includes consulting with business unit leadership and HR Directors to align benefit strategies, ensuring the competitiveness of the overall benefits program (health, wellness, retirement, ancillary programs) in alignment with the strategic needs of the organization. This position will be responsible for managing relationships with benefit brokers, insurance providers, retirement plan record keepers, and others.

The Benefits Administrator is a position that will influence and guide the organization to sensible and sustainable benefit strategies. The successful incumbent has excellent attention to detail, an ability to deliver great employee service, and polished communication and presentation skills.

Your Responsibilities


  • Provides employee education and training to workforce through New Hire Orientation, Annual Open Enrollment, Lunch & Learn information sessions, and other benefit communications
  • Assists with employee questions and administration of day-to-day function of benefits such as enrollments, COBRA, terminations, QLEs, beneficiaries, disability, rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, distributions, loans, etc.
  • Coordinates Company benefits with government sponsored programs. This includes leave of absence coordination and workers' compensation, among others
  • Resolves employee inquiries by interpreting plan documents, benefit guides, certificates of coverage, policies and procedures
  • Drives the annual benefit plan renewal process
  • Ensures benefit programs are competitive and legally compliant. Evaluates and compares existing company benefits with those of other employers by analyzing other plans, survey, and other sources of information
  • Manages wellness program, including annual flu shot clinics, biometric screenings, and annual on-site wellness fair
  • Identify and drive process improvements for the operations of benefit systems, programs and events
  • Manage benefit and retirement vendor relationships
  • Create and maintain mechanisms for eliciting employee feedback to ensure our programs meet employees' needs and expectations
  • Complete monthly benefit invoice reconciliation
  • Complete other administrative tasks as needed such as reporting, data imports, etc.

Your Profile


  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered
  • 2-3 years of experience in a Human Resources position with responsibility for benefits administration and/or coordination
  • Strong technical background and basic knowledge of employee benefits
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, adopted and pending, affecting employee benefit programs, including, but not limited to: ACA, ADA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, Section 125, Medicare Part D, FMLA/OFLA, workers' compensation and DOL requirements.
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint; experience with HRIS and benefits databases
  • Strong analytical skills and a thorough knowledge of plan designs and benefit contract language
  • Excellent customer relations and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to research, manipulate and interpret data
  • Effective planning and priority setting
  • Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to act independently and exercise judgment and discretion within the scope of the position; able to make decisions quickly and confidently
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

Preferred Experience:


  • Experience with leave of absence management, ADA claims and workers' compensation claims
  • Experience managing benefits as a multi-state employer
  • Experience with self-funded insurance plans
  • 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources and employee benefits
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP Certification
  • CEBS a plus

Work Location/Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
The location for this position is hybrid, and will work out of our Lake Oswego, Oregon campus.

This is a full-time exempt position. Standard days of work are Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. Hours of work may vary depending on business needs. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Travel Requirements:
Must be able to travel domestically; expected less than 10% of the time.
