We are seeking a versatile professional to join our team as an Assistant Project Manager.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design and project management, with the ability to handle complex custom fabrication projects from concept through completion.
Responsibilities: • Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing custom fabrication projects, ensuring timely completion, budget adherence, and quality standards. • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and work plans; assist in managing change orders and project documentation. • Collaborate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to understand project requirements, provide design input, and ensure alignment with project goals. • Create detailed mechanical drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD (and other CAD software as needed) for custom fabrication projects. • Generate and review technical documentation, including design calculations, bills of materials (BOMs), and assembly instructions. • Conduct design reviews to ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements. • Modify and revise existing designs to accommodate changes and enhancements requested by clients or the production team. • Provide technical support to the production team during the fabrication process, addressing design-related issues and ensuring manufacturability. • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement solutions to mitigate delays and cost overruns. • Prepare and present project status reports to stakeholders and senior management. • Support the Project Manager in conducting project meetings, documenting minutes, and following up on action items.
Qualifications: • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related field. • 3+ years of experience in mechanical design and/or project management within a fabrication or manufacturing environment. • Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with additional CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) is a plus. • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and fabrication processes, including metal design and welding. • Experience with project management, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management. • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering specifications. • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and organizational abilities. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients, vendors, and internal teams. • Familiarity with ERP systems and project management software is advantageous. • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and engineering change management. • PMP or similar project management certification is a plus. • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
