Job Description:

Position Summary:

As the Senior Manager of Mechanical Systems, you will spearhead our aircraft maintenance and modification activities, ensuring adherence to FAA regulations and the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. You'll manage a dedicated team of mechanical systems engineers, oversee departmental operations, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives and drive continuous improvement across aerospace engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead with Vision: Drive the execution of strategic goals within aircraft systems, continuously seeking opportunities for process improvement and business excellence.
  • Ensure Compliance: Oversee maintenance and modification activities to meet regulatory and company standards, adhering to schedules, budgets, and FAA compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate Effectively: Serve as the focal point for coordinating with management, customers, suppliers, and vendors to ensure productive operations, especially concerning system integration and quality assurance.
  • Optimize Resources: Manage manpower allocation, productivity, and efficiency; forecast needs and oversee procurement processes for mechanical systems components.
  • Enhance Skills: Develop and train your team, set performance goals, and conduct regular performance reviews to build a high-performing workforce.
  • Champion Safety: Establish and maintain a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and addressing any safety concerns related to mechanical systems.
  • Drive Excellence: Utilize Lean Manufacturing techniques, engineering data, and process standards to guide and improve departmental practices.
  • Prepare for Success: Lead preparation for FAA audits and manage non-conformances with effective corrective actions to ensure certification compliance.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Manage with Impact: Directly supervise assigned staff, set departmental goals, assign tasks, and review work products to ensure high-quality outcomes, particularly in aircraft mechanical systems.
  • Develop Talent: Train, motivate, and evaluate staff performance; participate in recruitment and career development efforts to strengthen the team's capabilities in aerospace engineering.

Qualifications:
  • Experience & Education: High School diploma or equivalent; 10+ years in aircraft maintenance/modification with supervisory/management experience preferred.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficient in inspection aids, test equipment, and quality assessment techniques; familiarity with FAR Part 65, Airframe & Powerplant licenses required.
  • Skills: Exceptional organizational abilities, effective communication, and strong problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry-specific software is a must.
  • Attributes: Detail-oriented, capable of multitasking, and willing to work extended hours as needed.

Language Skills:
  • Proficiency: Must be able to read, write, and understand English, with the ability to interpret complex documents including technical and regulatory materials.
