Job Description:

Receiving Clerk- Ashland, Va.        

  POSITION SUMMARY

Performs an array of receiving functions. Main duties include unloading shipments, as well as verifying that their contents are correct and that no items are damaged. Properly processing receiving paperwork, sorting shipments, processing backorders for delivery to customers and directing received goods to their final destination point.  Processes outbound freight shipment to vendors or customers.

         POSITION EXPECTATIONS


  • Loads and unloads trucks for processing incoming and outgoing freight.

  • Receiving and processing all inbound shipment in compliance with company receiving standards for paperwork and warehouse placement. Directs receipts for non-stock merchandise to the respective recipient.

  • Researches problems and discrepancies prior to submitting paperwork for receiving it ensure that inventory is accurately posted. Communicates the solution to those problems through the appropriate channels. Use receiving manifest to safely and accurately stock inbound merchandise in primary/pulling & secondary/bulk bin location and consistently adhere to stock rotation SOP to guarantee FIFO for all perishable goods.

  • Processes filling of backorders and preparing those orders for delivery to customers.

  • Processes outgoing vendor returns in compliance within standard operating procedures.

  • Works with manager / supervisor on processing the free astray inventory as needed.

  • Load and unload packages onto or from carts, pallets and conveyor system.

  • Ensure outbound order accuracy is maintained by reading labels and manifest paperwork for proper package distribution to the designated delivery routes.

  • Inspects stock items for wear and defects prior to releasing them for distribution.

  • Understands all company safety guidelines and protocols outlined in the Safety Handbook

  • Operates tools and material handling equipment in performance of duties within company safety guidelines.

  • Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with policies, procedures, and regulations.

  • Assists in general facility upkeep to include emptying trash and compacting recyclable materials.

  • Assist Service teams by assembling furniture items, preparing and moving equipment as necessary.

  • Assists internal and external customers in moving, loading, and unloading merchandise as directed.

  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.

  • Meets company standards for attendance and punctuality.

  • Other duties as assigned.

               

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS


  • Basic math and computer skills.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Able to exchange information with other.

  • Ability to understand and follow direction.

  • Ability to use basic warehouse tools and equipment.

  • Be able to prioritize duties to meet daily company standards.

  • Focused on detail oriented tasks.

Education, Certifications and /or Licenses:


  • High School Diploma or Equivalent  preferred.

Experience:


  • Minimum 1 year previous warehouse receiving experience (preferred)

  • Minimum 1 year previous forklift experience (preferred)


  • Must have stand up reach forklift experience

       PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

        While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be required to do the following:


  • Ascending/descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding and ramps.

  • Perform activities such as balance, bend/stoop, crouch, kneel, push/pull, reach, squat.

  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.

  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.

  • Adjusting or moving objects up to 2,000 pounds in all directions using proper lifting technique and equipment.

  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs unassisted (50lbs repeatedly).

  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

  • Operating machinery and/or power tools.

  • Uses standard warehouse materials handling equipment.

         WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the associate regularly works in a fast-paced, noisy, non-temperature controlled environment, varying between internal warehouse environments, delivery vehicles, outdoors, and internal/external customer locations.
