Your role:



This role within our Healthcare Business, reporting to the Global Head, Therapeutic Area Communications, will support strategy and tactical execution of external product communications, disease awareness initiatives and internal communications activities. Our team supports three Therapeutic Areas within the company -- both marketed products and an exciting pipeline.


This role requires close collaboration with members of the Communications team, as well as stakeholders across various functions and sectors. You possess a highly organized, results-driven working style and thrive in a fast-paced, multifaceted organization.



Key responsibilities:



  • Support execution of Therapeutic Area communications activities in the oncology and neurology therapeutic areas both in the US market and globally

  • Lead trade media engagement on behalf of our Therapeutic Areas

  • Support internal communications initiatives related to key product advancements and milestones, including executive communications and content development

  • Support Medical Congress planning and execution, from communications perspective, working across functions in the global organization

  • Collaborate with Healthcare social media team members on congress and disease awareness campaigns

  • Provide communications counsel to cross-functional therapeutic area teams

  • Draft communications materials including but not limited to press releases, media pitches, internal articles, talking points, presentations, social media content and internal company communications

  • Coordination with patient advocacy team to support relationships and build out disease awareness programming

  • Management of internal Legal/Regulatory/Medical review for Communications materials

  • Liaison with country communicators on relevant projects

  • Day-to-day management of PR agencies and vendors




Who you are:




Minimum requirements



  • Bachelor's Degree with minimum of 8 years experience in either a product or corporate communications position, PR agency, biotech or pharmaceutical, academic institution, or related position.

  • Knowledge of internal, external and digital communications strategies and tactics.

  • Up to 20% domestic or international travel (dependent on business need)




Preferred requirements



  • Experience managing vendors and contractors.

  • Product launch experience.

  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a global matrixed organizational structure.

  • Experience with oncology product communications preferred.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to apply effective communication techniques, engage in focused dialogue, demonstrate good listening skills and to present to small and large groups at all levels of the organization and deal with unexpected questions and challenges while presenting.

  • High degree of professional versatility and hands-on capability.

  • Sound budget management skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills alongside a growth mindset.

  • Strong aptitude for dealing with scientific issues across a broad range of functional areas.

  • Ability to meet challenges consistently and confidently with energy, drive and a 'can-do' attitude.

  • Ability to act with urgency - motivated by results and personal commitment.

  • Creative - able to formulate and execute new approaches to communications problems.
