CURRENTLY SEEKING QUALIFIED CANDIDATE TO JOIN OUR MANAGEMENT TEAM!

Primary Job Purpose:  Responsible for the scheduling and organization of housekeeping and laundry services to assure that our community is clean, kept free of noxious smells and pests, while staying well-maintained for the benefit of our neighbors, families, and team.  Directly responsible for the management of the activities of housekeeping and laundry department personnel.  Provides hands-on supervision and performs housekeeping and laundry functions as necessary. Assures compliance with rules and regulations regarding housekeeping and laundry standards for CMS and complies with OSHA standards and regulations.

Essential Job Functions:


  • Practice the Values, the Mission, and Philosophy of Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center.


  • Must have working knowledge of the techniques and equipment required to provide acceptable services.

  • Must be able to combine supervisory skills to ensure the satisfactory delivery of laundry and housekeeping services throughout the community.  This includes providing on-going supervision of housekeeping and laundry team and making adjustments in work areas in the event of call-ins, vacations, and emergencies.

  • Assists with extra cleaning tasks on a continuous basis.

  • Monitor daily and monthly audits by daily walk through and inspections.  Use computer to record data from audits and share information with the Director of Environmental Services.

  • Responsible for building supervision. Inspects for areas which might create odors or undesirable sanitary or safety conditions.  Reports unsafe, unsanitary conditions to the Administrator if they are out of the realm of housekeeping or laundry duties.

  • Responsible for readying rooms for new occupancy.  Assists in settling new neighbors in room.

  • Assist Social Services with scheduling room moves. Preforms hands on assistance with the moves, ensuring neighbors are settled in.

  • Assists therapy departments to maintain safety in the environment by providing correct beds, recliners, and/or other therapy equipment as directed.

  • Complete work orders as assigned.

  • Schedules team appropriately to ensure all work is completed in a timely manner.

  • Orders, maintains, and distributes supplies and equipment for the housekeeping and laundry departments to ensure continuity of operations. Orders and delivers supplies for buildings across campus.

  • Maintains working relationships with vendors to ensure equipment and supply needs are met.

  • Schedules orientation and provides on-the-job training for all staff according to housekeeping and laundry procedures.

  • Works with the Director of Environmental Services in planning in-service training programs and drafting yearly budget.

  • Maintains needs within the budgets. Submits variance reports monthly.

  • Evaluates performance and recommendation of wage increases of team.

  • With the assistance of Director of Environmental Services and Human Resource Manager, the Manager will interview, hire, discipline, and terminate employees.

  • Must use proper universal cautions.

  • Must maintain confidentiality of all work-related information according to HIPAA regulations.

  • Assure neighbors rights, privacy, and HIPAA regulations are followed.

  • Must be able to push/pull up to 250 pounds regularly using a wheelchair/cart.  Must be able to lift 0-50 pounds regularly by self and 50+ pounds occasionally with assistance.

Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

Education and Experience: Position requires a high school education, or the equivalent of at least one year’s experience in a housekeeping and laundry position in a medical home.  Preferred one-year supervisory experience related to the service industry and computer experience.

Non-Essential Job Functions:  May participate in Eben Ezer committees.  Will attend all team meetings and department meetings as instructed.

Material and Equipment used but not limited to:  General housekeeping and laundry supplies related to, but not limited to; cleaning chemicals, water, mopping equipment, sweeping equipment, vacuums, cleaning cart, trash cart, and dusting supplies.  Other equipment to fulfill the essential duties of this position will involve working with commercial washing machines and dryers.

Working Environment/Physical Activities:  Must be able to sit, stand, and walk 8 hours a day.  Sits, stands, bends, walks, reaches, lifts, pushing carts and wheelchairs, and moves intermittently during working hours.  Constantly required to walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, push, pull, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear in the course of cleaning and using equipment.  Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and blood borne pathogens.  Occasionally exposed to fumes, odors, dusts, cleaning chemicals, or airborne particles.  Electrical equipment associated with the position.  Occasionally climbs ladders to complete related duties (i.e.; changing light bulbs, washing windows, etc.).  Constantly works inside the building with occasional outside duties.  Employee is subject to physically ill neighbors as well as hostile and emotionally upset neighbors and/or families.

Working Hours:  8 hour shifts as assigned and filling in when necessary to cover call ins or vacations.  Must be able to work holidays and weekends.  Schedule may vary, based on needs and supervisor discretion.

Working Location:  This is not a remote position and work must be performed in person.
