JOB SUMMARY



We are seeking a visionary Director of Technology Operations to lead our IT infrastructure, cloud, and operations team. This role is responsible for the oversight of core IT functions, while driving modernization through cloud transformation, automation, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices. The ideal candidate will be proactive, strategic, and technically strong, focused on delivering operational excellence while preparing the organization for future technological advancements.


Key duties and responsibilities:




  1. Infrastructure Management & Optimization:

    • Lead the IT infrastructure team, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance across data centers, networks, and on-premises environments.

    • Optimize existing infrastructure while driving cost efficiency and innovation through automation and modern tools.




  2. Cloud Strategy & Execution:

    • Spearhead the organization’s cloud-first strategy, including the migration of legacy systems to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

    • Ensure seamless integration between on-premises and cloud systems, implementing best practices for multi-cloud and hybrid environments.




  3. Automation & DevOps Implementation:

    • Lead the adoption of DevOps practices across the technology organization, fostering a culture of continuous integration, delivery, and deployment.

    • Champion automation across infrastructure, operations, and application pipelines to improve efficiency and reduce manual tasks.




  4. Site Reliability Engineering (SRE):

    • Establish and lead the SRE function, focusing on building scalable and reliable systems, improving observability, and enhancing incident response capabilities.

    • Collaborate with development and product teams to ensure applications are resilient, performant, and aligned with customer needs.




  5. Security & Compliance:

    • Oversee the implementation of robust security protocols and compliance measures across the infrastructure, ensuring adherence to industry regulations and best practices.

    • Collaborate with security teams to integrate security into the DevOps pipeline (DevSecOps).




  6. Proactive Problem Solving & Innovation:

    • Develop a proactive, solution-oriented culture, identifying potential infrastructure issues before they arise and addressing root causes quickly and effectively.

    • Stay ahead of emerging technology trends, recommending innovative solutions that align with business objectives and enhance operational capabilities.




  7. Team Leadership & Development:

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of excellence, curiosity, and innovation.

    • Build strong cross-functional relationships with engineering, product, and business teams to ensure alignment on operational and strategic goals.




  8. Vendor Management & Budgeting:

    • Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and negotiations to ensure the best value and service.

    • Develop and manage the operations budget, balancing operational costs with strategic investments in new technologies.




 



KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS




  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (Master’s preferred).

  • 10+ years of experience in IT operations, infrastructure, and cloud technologies.

  • Proven leadership in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and a strong understanding of cloud-native architectures.

  • Hands-on experience with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, etc.), CI/CD pipelines, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Deep knowledge of DevOps, SRE, and ITIL frameworks, with a strong track record of implementing these practices in high-growth environments.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and long-term solution implementation.

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and inspire teams.

  • Experience managing complex budgets and optimizing operational costs.


 



WORKING CONDITIONS




  • This position will report to an office and will be part of a larger team atmosphere.

  • Productively work in a hybrid work environment which consists of 2 mandatory “all-in” days, 1 variable day, and 2 virtual days.  Hybrid work environment is applied per position/department and may be subject to change per changes in the Policy.

  • Business casual working environment


 



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS




  • Be able to sit for long periods of time without problem

  • Extensive use of fingers and hands for typing

  • Extensive use of eyes to be able to analyze documents electronically and physically for long periods of time

  • If the job is physically demanding, this should be stated in the job description. A physically demanding job is one where the incumbent is required to stand for extended periods of time, lift heavy objects on a regular basis, do repetitive tasks with few breaks, and so forth.
