Job Description:


Marine Systems Technical Advisor candidate sought to provide full-time on-site support to DARPA's Biological Technology Office (BTO). This role involves full-time support of a new DARPA program relating to marine ecosystems, marine carbon cycling, environmental microbiology, biomanufacturing, synthetic biology, enzyme engineering. In addition to possessing the requisite subject matter expertise, the successful candidate must be able to: (i) work independently on multiple tasks, (ii) provide technical and managerial support by actively representing the program manager in large, multi-performer programs, and (iii) engage with relevant communities including stakeholders and transition partners.


Tasks include conducting and summarizing monthly performer team status reports, biannual site performer team site visits, and annual program review meetings. Must be adept at communicating cutting edge technical material in oral, written, and graphical form. Must be able to keep abreast of state-of-the-art results in fields relevant to the DARPA program being supported.


Required Skills:


  • Active DoD Secret security clearance

  • US Citizenship required per contract.
  • At least 10 years of total work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with project/program management, preferably in a DoD R&D environment.
  • Expertise in one or all areas relating to: marine systems sciences, synthetic biology and enzyme engineering.

Desired Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience with managing large, technically diverse teams.

  • Ph.D. in any area relating to marine systems.
  • Experience in successfully proposing new development projects and leading them to successful completion.
  • Engaged and open to dialogue, combining varying viewpoints that strengthen technical impact within the program team and upper leadership when it pertains to discussing/creating new program structures or technical solutions
