Job Summary


F&G is hiring for an Associate Actuary with our Actuarial Models team. The Associate Actuary's primary responsibilities are to develop and maintain actuarial models used at F&G. This responsibility involves executing model change management activities subject to a rigorous model governance environment, as well as preparing the models for production runs and maintaining comprehensive model documentation.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with various teams to understand required changes to Corporate AXIS models used for valuation, pricing, inforce management, ALM, and planning purposes
  • Foster a strong risk management culture within the organization, including maintaining comprehensive model documentation and executing model change management processes while adhering to established governance policies and procedures
  • Prepare the Corporate AXIS models for regularly scheduled production runs
  • Maintain comprehensive model documentation and executing model change management process while adhering to established governance policies and procedures
  • Provide technical model support and relevant training to other actuarial users within the organization
  • Interact with different levels of employees from various areas of the company including IT, reinsurance and internal audit as well as external groups including software vendor and consultants
  • Develop and enhancing processes to be effective and efficient, including being repeatable and scalable

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics or other related area
  • ASA designation
  • 4+ years of related actuarial experience
  • Experience with and knowledge of AXIS (preferred) or similar actuarial modeling software is required
  • Experience with the Fixed Indexed Annuity, Indexed Universal Life, or Pension Risk Transfer lines of business, or reinsurance thereon, preferred

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills including the ability to quickly and effectively learn new concepts and technical tools. Demonstrate ability to apply actuarial principles to complex situations.
  • Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative, including a continuous desire to enhance tools and processes through challenging the status quo
  • Ability to adapt rapidly and thrive in a quickly evolving and dynamic work environment and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Takes ownership for responsibilities, with attention to detail demonstrated through high quality of work product
  • Possess strong technical skills including the ability to independently implement changes and troubleshoot issues
  • Team player who has the ability to function as a key member of a small group, demonstrated by the ability to proactively identify issues and to influence key project decisions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Regular and punctual attendance
  • Some travel required (less than 10%)
