Job Details



This role for the AW2030 Program will be full time, and you will be committed to this program for a minimum of one year. The level for this role is flexible and this position may be hired at various levels. We are invested in your development and supporting your career with American Water. At the program's completion, we expect your placement in a role at a similar or higher level than your current role.




Primary Role



Your role on the AW2030 Program will be full time, and you are committing to this program for a minimum of one year. In addition, we are invested in your development and supporting your career with American Water. At the program's completion, we expect your placement in a role at a similar or higher level than your current role.


Responsible for advising on all contract related matters and coordinating between with the business, Legal and Supply Chain. This includes negotiations of new agreements, amendments to existing agreements and supplier breaches.




Key Accountabilities




  • Ensuring effective and efficient contract review and negotiation support for the sourcing activities that are delivered to American Water.
  • Supports problem resolution efforts to resolve contract disputes.
  • Accountable for the operation and management of the contract management system.
  • Responsible for monitoring SOX compliance with, and consistent application of Contract Administration Practices.
  • Ensure contracts are in compliance with all State and Federal regulatory laws.
  • Supports management initiatives and works closely with suppliers and other functional areas in order to improve processes.
  • Works with stakeholders to troubleshoot contract discrepancies and pricing information.
  • Receives, identifies and resolves discrepancies associated with assigned supplier contract issues.
  • Trains and provides feedback to stakeholders on contract knowledge.

Experience/Education




  • Minimum 6+ years' total work experience.
  • Minimum 4+ years' working with contracts on a regular basis Strong understanding of contracts and key terms.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, Pre- Law or related disciplines or equivalent combination of education and experience required. MBA or Master's degree a plus.
  • CPSM certification a plus Paralegal certification a plus.



Work Location



  • This is a Hybrid position 3/2 WFH Schedule (where we have AW footprint).
