Job Description:

To further this mission, and the mission of the university, we are searching for an Operational Support Supervisor. This position will be responsible for the supervision and development of engineering staff, while supporting a team of 15-25 multi-disciplinary engineers, along with ensuring efficient operations of the department. 


Essential Duties:



  • Provides operational support to the engineering team, addressing organizational issues and ensuring smooth project execution.

  • Monitors service standards to ensure deliverables meet quality expectations.

  • Manages timecard closeouts and approves PTO requests, ensuring accurate attendance records and compliance with policies.

  • Administers policies and procedures within the engineering department.

  • Monitors remote work requirements to maintain productivity and collaboration standards.

  • Manages corrective actions when necessary, addressing performance or conduct issues in a timely and appropriate manner.

  • Oversees engineering budget, ensuring responsible allocation of resources and adherence to financial targets.

  • Approves travel card expenses in accordance with organizational policies and budgetary.

  • Provides regular feedback and coaching to team members to support their growth and performance improvement.

  • Manages goals and development plans for team members, aligning individual objectives with organizational goals.

  • Maintains personnel documentation, including records of performance evaluations, training completion, and other relevant information.

  • Coordinates training requirements for engineering staff, identifying relevant opportunities for skill development and knowledge enhancement.

  • Coordinates and executes hiring plans.

  • Coordinates schedules for interviews, meetings, and onboarding activities.

  • Documents and maintains comprehensive onboarding plans for new hires, ensuring a smooth transition into the team.

  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Management or related field equivalent, AND



  • 36 months of experience leading teams with 5 or more employees


Equivalency/Substitution: Experience or a combination of education & related experience can be considered in lieu of degree. A one-to-one ratio is used to determine the number of years of experience required in place of a degree.


Skills:



  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

  • Proven ability to coach and motivate team members.

  • Proficient in Microsoft products, including Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Word.

  • Strong management, presentation, and organizational skills.

  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information.

  • Strong customer service orientation, collaboration, and teamwork skills.

  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Strong analytical, mathematical, creative problem-solving, decision-making skills.

  • Significant exposure to various operational and managerial workplace models.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a dynamic work environment


Departmental Preferences:



  • Advanced Excel skills

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt of higher

  • Proficient in SQL or Python


Advertised Physical Requirements:



  • Must be able to engage in repetitive motions and communicate effectively.

  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.

  • Ability to communicate, including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others.

  • Ability to use a computer daily.



    Supervision: 15-25 Engineers
