Do you want to be a part of one of the nation’s leading heavy civil construction companies? Traylor Bros., Inc. has a tremendous opportunity for a highly-motivated, Survey Manager for our Light Rail project in Honolulu, HI.

Position Summary

Maintains all project construction survey needs by planning, conducting, and recording surveys. Establishes benchmarks, monuments, centerlines, grade traverses, slopes, and other reference points. Assists the superintendents and foremen, as required, in the review and proper interpretation of construction plans and drawings, layouts and staking. Will work with engineers and project managers to fulfill all survey needs. Should be able to perform field adjustment and calibration of survey equipment which including but not limited to GPS and Robotic system.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Plans survey by identifying purpose of survey, researching previous survey evidence, aps and related records
  • Direction and coordination of one or more survey parties; often using static and GPS technology, electronic total stations, and digital leveling techniques
  • Locates areas by measuring and calculating points, elevations, lines, angles, area, and contours
  • Records survey by preparing notes, records, drawings, writing legal descriptions, applying computer aided design technologies
  • Completes projects by coordinating requirements with project personnel, owners, and other agencies
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, safety training and orientation of new employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Confers with supervisory personnel and labor representatives to resolve complaints and grievances within work force
  • Assume additional responsibilities as directed by division and corporate management. Travel as required to attend, but not limited to, meetings, site visits, training, etc. Ability to relocate as needed

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a survey, construction, or engineering-related field preferred, or a combination of education and/or 7-10 years’ construction supervision work experience
  • Strong experience with survey equipment, right of way and boundary resolution, and electronic topographic surveys
  • State of Hawaii Licensed Land Surveyor
  • Managing project budgets and schedules
