Team (Project) Introduction
The Enterprise Security Architecture (ESA) project is a comprehensive initiative by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to enhance and secure its IT infrastructure. The project focuses on developing a unified security architecture that integrates new and emerging technologies, such as cloud computing, IoT, and AI, while ensuring compliance with federal cybersecurity standards. The goal of the ESA project is to protect the VA's information systems and data, ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical information while supporting the VA's mission to provide secure, reliable services to Veterans.
As a Power BI Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of advanced data models, dashboards, and reports that meet the analytical needs of various stakeholders within the VA. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the Power BI environment is optimized for performance, security, and usability. This role is crucial in enabling the VA to leverage its data assets to enhance decision-making and improve service delivery to Veterans.

Responsibilities
Power BI Solution Design and Development: Lead the design, development, and management of complex Power BI solutions for the ESA project, ensuring that the data visualization and reporting needs of the VA are met with high-quality, scalable, and efficient solutions.
Data Modeling and Analysis: Develop and implement robust data models using Power BI, incorporating DAX, Power Query, and other advanced features to provide actionable insights and support decision-making within the ESA project.
Database Management and Integration: Oversee the integration of Power BI with various data sources, including cloud platforms, APIs, and enterprise systems, ensuring seamless data flow and accurate reporting within the ESA framework.
SQL and ETL Processes: Utilize your expertise in SQL and ETL processes to manage and manipulate data, ensuring that all Power BI reports and dashboards are based on accurate, up-to-date, and well-structured data sets.
Complex Data Visualizations: Design and create complex data visualizations that effectively communicate key insights to stakeholders, ensuring that all Power BI dashboards are user-friendly and aligned with the ESA project's goals.
Power BI Leadership: Provide leadership of the ESA project, guiding the implementation of Power BI solutions and ensuring that they integrate smoothly with other IT systems and processes.
Technical Troubleshooting and Support: Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to Power BI and data integration, ensuring the reliability and performance of Power BI solutions within the ESA project.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, IT professionals, and project managers, to ensure that Power BI solutions meet the technical and business requirements of the ESA project.
Stakeholder Communication: Communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring that all parties understand the capabilities and limitations of Power BI solutions.
Training and Mentorship: Prepare and deliver training sessions, reports, and presentations on Power BI, sharing your expertise with junior team members and other stakeholders within the ESA project to enhance overall project competency.
Project Leadership: Lead Power BI-related projects within the ESA framework, managing timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure successful project outcomes that align with the VA's strategic objectives.

Certification and Professional Development: Maintain relevant certifications in Power BI, data analytics, staying current with industry trends and ensuring that your skills and knowledge continue to meet the evolving needs of the ESA project.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, data science, or a related field.
Relevant certifications in Power BI, data analytics are highly preferred. (5 years of directly relevant experience will be considered in lieu of degree).
7+ years of experience in data analytics, or business intelligence roles, with a strong focus on Power BI.
Proven track record of designing, developing, and managing complex Power BI solutions within large organizations.
Deep expertise in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and the creation of complex data models and visualizations.
Strong understanding of database management, SQL, and ETL processes.
Experience with integrating Power BI with various data sources, including cloud platforms, APIs, and enterprise systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and develop actionable insights.
Ability to design and implement data models that are both efficient and scalable.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience in preparing and delivering presentations, reports, and training sessions.
Demonstrated ability to lead projects and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Experience in mentoring junior team members and sharing expertise within the organization.
Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to Power BI and data integration.

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $96,370.33 to $108,792.32.
