The Asset Utilization Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing the companies' fleet, equipment, and inventory to ensure optimal utilization, cost of ownership and revenue. This would include managing fleet, equipment acquisitions/disposals inventory levels and restocking for all offices.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee the functions of the Asset Utilization Department so that department goals are met with expected results and within budget/time requirements.
Determine and implement policies and procedures to effectively meet goals
Communicate information and ideas to the department and related departments
Provide a safe work environment within the department
Provide needed resources in order to achieve goals
Develop and manage the department budget
Track departmental goals
Analyze pertinent data to create and distribute periodic reports on Company-owned assets to maximize utilization, manage cost of ownership challenges, and develop appropriate CAPEX spend
Develop means and methods to track trends and work with senior staff to identify improvement opportunities
Provide guidance developing asset management policies, procedures, and best practices through the understanding of our fleet, equipment and inventory use, fleet lifecycle, cost of ownership, and competency of our maintenance departments
Offer recommendations for procurement/disposal of fleet and equipment in collaboration with Purchasing Manager, Office Managers, and Accounting
Participate and provide input to company's capital budget development
Provide guidance and recommendations for retail pricing of the fleet, equipment and inventory for company rate sheets
Coordinate the work within the department to result in compliance with regulations, controlling costs, maximum efficiency, and a high level of quality.Implement process improvements in all positions to achieve greater efficiencies.
Work closely with operations management team to ensure that offices maintain proper inventory levels based on sales and utilization targets
Conduct monthly reviews with operations management team to review fleet condition, utilization, and fleet acquisition / disposal opportunities
Provide follow-up meetings with operations and senior staff to result in better quality and greater morale with company assets
Establish, track and maintain team goals on efficiency and quality
Manage all licensing and fuel tax usage and other compliance issues
Build and maintain a safe, team-oriented work environment in order to achieve department goals and high levels of satisfaction with customers and employees
Communicate through various means to ensure employee and customer needs are met
Identify problems and take appropriate action to resolve them in a timely manner
Mentor staff to promote team building
Manage the assets team to ensure top performance and safety
Manage department records to ensure accurate data for asset life cycle information and to provide historical data for senior staff and operations management team.
Develop fleet life cycle plans to maximize ROI
Implement systems to track all service work
Eliminate obsolete processes to improve efficiency and accuracy of data
Improve workflow processes to increase the efficiency of each position
Ensure all data is being tracked timely and accurately within company's data management systems
All other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Bachelor's degree in Business Management or a related field, or related experience
Knowledge in construction equipment maintenance, construction equipment service department operational procedures and processes
Minimum of 5 years asset or material management experience preferably in the equipment rental industry or construction equipment industry or equivalent
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities preferred
Keyboarding skills
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, asset management software, Geotab, Fleetio and Deltek Vision and other relevant ERP applications
Proven ability to drive process improvement, including the effective use of technology and automation
Ability to collaborate and train others
Knowledge of equipment used in service area
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills; must be able to communicate ideas and issues effectively and concisely to all levels of management
Ability to develop specifications for new equipment / fleet acquisitions
Knowledge of principles and methods involved to promote and run retail service business and internal fleet maintenance utilizing a team
Ability to deal with others tactfully
Ability to stand, sit, walk
Strong leadership and delegation skills
Must be able to work flexible hours beyond the normal schedule when necessary
Must be willing to travel occasionally for meetings or asset tracking field work throughout the Southeast US
