Bank Street School for Children



Role: Afterschool Dance Teacher (Part-Time)


Start Date: Monday, September 30, 2024


Schedule: Friday After School | 1:30PM - 3:15PM (2 sessions for age levels 5/6s and 3/4s-4/5s) | September 2024 - June 2025 adhering to the BSC calendar

Opportunity for occasional substitute work


Pay Rate: $40 - $60 Per Hour (commensurate with experience)


Job Summary:


We are seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Dance Teacher to lead an after school course. The Dance Teacher will work closely with the Afterschool Administrative Team to develop and implement an age-appropriate curriculum that meets students at their individual skill levels.


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Afterschool Administrative Team to create and deliver an engaging, age-appropriate chess curriculum.
  • Build positive relationships with students, promoting respect, focus, and sportsmanship.
  • Apply effective classroom management skills to maintain an energetic and safe learning environment, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
  • Actively participate in a cooperative Afterschool program, sharing strategies and insights to support a healthy classroom community.
  • Ensure students move safely through the hallways and in and out of the building during program hours, following all building-wide safety regulations.
  • Supervise the safe dismissal of students to authorized adults at the end of each session.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience teaching dance to children of various age groups is preferred.
  • Strong classroom management skills, particularly with younger children.
  • Familiarity with progressive education principles is a plus.
  • Previous experience within the Bank Street community is an advantage.
  • Willingness to collaborate and work as part of a team, with a commitment to developing skills in working with individual children, small groups, and the entire class.
