You'll be part of the Global Benefits COE focusing on employee benefit design and implementation for our 90,000+ employees.The Global Benefits COE is responsible for ensuring benefits align to Tenet 5 of the Mission and meet the following objectives: market competitive, financially sustainable, global approach with local relevance, fosters employee engagement, effectively communicated to increase awareness and understanding of offerings and aligns with the business strategy.

You will be responsible for supporting the benefit offerings for the Americas region, including annual renewals, and implementation of the global benefits administration technology. You will have a focus on continuous improvement and will work closely with the Regional Benefits COE leader, Benefit Operations, Payroll, AskHR and other COEs to achieve solutions/improvements for all processes/tasks associated with employee Benefits.

This position will report to the Sr. Benefits Director, Americas and will work closely with many stakeholders including regional Total Rewards team members, Benefits Operations, Payroll, Finance and local stakeholders as well as the Global Benefits COE team.

This position can reside in one of our Medtronic office locations or work remote.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Coordinate employee insured benefit renewals and recommendations with local broker, ensuring information is accurate and timely.

  • Monitor compliance reports and gather information as needed to support regional benefits team with implementation tasks (may include all or some of the following: retirement plan, saving programs, pension programs, group life insurance, sick leave, long-term disability, health insurance programs, vacation, holidays, paid/unpaid leaves of absence, wellness programs).

  • Support regional leaders with implementation of global benefits administration technology.

  • Evaluate current programs through research, survey and analysis of benefits trends to ensure plans are competitive and current.

  • Review and update employee benefit communications.

  • Assist with ensuring internal and external compliance with local legislation, benefit regulations and company policies.

  • Provide interactive support with Payroll and Finance to ensure proper payment, funding and taxation of employee benefits programs.

  • Deliver exceptional customer service by researching and ensuring timely responses to employee escalations.

  • Support implementation of new benefit offerings including completion of GSO review and communication review.

  • Help identify process improvement and best practice opportunities to current business / work processes.

  • Supports special projects as needed.

MUST HAVE: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


  • Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of Human Resources, benefits, compensation, payroll or finance experience OR Advanced Degree;

  • Experience in Americas Benefits in major multinational company and/or top tier benefit consulting firm

  • Fluent in English, knowledge of other languages would be an asset

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines, work on several projects simultaneously and work independently and in a team environment

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and recognize when escalation is necessary

  • Ability to work with highly confidential data and always maintain confidentiality

  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative analytical techniques and tools

  • Medtronic work experience - Knowledge of company products, company functions, and policies and procedures

  • Strong detail orientation

  • Previous experience in a customer service or high customer interaction

  • Good judgment and problem-solving skills

  • Proficient in Workday, Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
