Job Description:

Position Purpose/Summary

The Building Maintenance Technician is committed to providing the highest quality of service to the communities, customers, and employees we serve by performing a wide variety of tasks requiring skills in the building trades, including carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, heating, and cooling.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Performs rough and finish carpentry and drywall tasks.
  2. Installs, repairs and/or replaces doors, windows, building hardware, fencing, flooring, ceiling, shelving, cabinet, and counters.
  3. Performs general maintenance and repairs of roof systems.
  4. Prepare surfaces for painting and uses painting equipment such as power sprayer, rollers, and brushes.
  5. Inspects, installs, troubleshoots and repairs plumbing fixtures.
  6. Inspects, installs, and repairs electrical fixtures. Includes changing ballasts and bulbs.
  7. Performs preventive maintenance on HVAC Systems. Includes changing filters and cleaning condensate drains.
  8. Builds, assembles, installs and or repairs facility furnishing and fixtures.
  9. Estimates materials, labor and time needed for projects.
  10. Cleans and maintains tools, equipment, materials, and worksite.
  11. Assures safety standards are used that comply with company, local, state, and federal guidelines.
  12. Performs repair and construction work involved in the upkeep of office buildings and other facilities.
  1. Performs outside maintenance duties, including basic grounds keeping.

  8. Must be legally employable by any employer in the United States and not require sponsorship.

  2. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  3. Ability to apply mathematical concepts such as angles, fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  4. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  5. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  6. Must be willing and able to work independently with little to no supervision.

Qualifications

At a minimum, the Building Maintenance Technician must have a high school diploma or equivalent and five years of related experience. A CPR certification is preferred, and a valid driver’s license is required.
