Job Description:

Position Summary:

Assists Audiologists to enhance patient care and maximize clinic efficiency. Assists with device repairs, troubleshooting devices and placing and tracking new device orders. The Assistant is responsible for biologic/electroacoustic calibration of audiometric equipment, ensuring exam rooms are stocked appropriately and assisting audiologists with the evaluation of patients.

Position Key Accountabilities:

1. Performs basic repairs and provides routine maintenance/troubleshooting of hearing aids, earmolds, and cochlear implants.
2. Communicates and coordinates patient care with Audiologists.
3. Coordinates packing, mailing and tracking of all hearing aid, cochlear implant and earmold orders and/or equipment needing repair.
4. Assists Audiologists with behavioral testing the sound booth.
5. Prepares and submits letters of medical necessity for new equipment, and upgrades, plus required forms for hearing aid orders.
6. Provides education to parents, teachers, and other professionals working with children with hearing loss.
7. Prepares exam rooms for testing by performing equipment calibration and insuring that supply inventories for clinical functions and testing are adequately maintained.
8. Coordinates inventory/status of all new/repair equipment (hearing aids and cochlear implants) and assists with patient scheduling for such devices.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Current Texas Audiology Assistant License is preferred.
Working knowledge of MS Office software.

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Experience:

One (1) year of related experience. Prior experience in a hearing care setting and working with patients with hearing-related medical conditions and hearing aid service/maintenance is preferred. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
