Job Summary

Works with candidates and staff who are best positioned to execute on our District's vision that every child receives an excellent public school education and graduates from high school ready to succeed. Advises candidates and District personnel on the certification required for the position that they are applying for or their current position. Assists with monitoring the certification status of teachers and administrators to ensure timely recertification. For the Salary specialty, processes salary upgrades for advanced degrees and determines step placement for new hires and reports to the Director, Certification and School Support. Prepares reports and maintains related records as required.

Essential Functions
• Works on various aspects of certification and ensures that new hires and District personnel are in compliance with the Pennsylvania Department of Education (DOE) certification requirements for their prospective or current classification.
• Reviews the certification of candidates and District personnel; monitors and maintains data on certification; manages communication with candidates at various stages of the certification process.
• Maintains an up-to-date and accurate database for employee certification, including data for emergency certification and data on employees who have not fulfilled the requirements to continue working under an emergency certificate; submits a report to the Certification Manager on employees who have not fulfilled the requirements for an emergency certificate.
• Analyzes certification data to proactively develop strategies to ensure that employees are working towards their certification goals in the timeframe designated by the DOE.
• Becomes an expert and serves as a resource to employees on certification; builds and maintains collaborative relationships.
• Ensures that experienced educators apply for permanent certification; submits a report to the Certification Manager on employees who have not obtained their permanent certification; maintains educator licenses in Advantage.
• Keeps abreast of District, state and federal regulations regarding teacher certification; monitors and ensures District compliance with all laws and regulations.
• Attends meetings as required.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Two years of full-time, paid, professional experience in human resources.

OR
• Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training determined to be acceptable by the Office of Talent
