Job Description:

Position Title: Development & Community Engagement Associate

Reports To: Director of Development & Community Engagement

Classification: Full-time, Non-Exempt-Thirty-five (35.0) hour week; evenings and weekends expected for meetings, workshops, events, and seminars.

Salary range: $45,000-$48,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Their Superpowers Should Include: " A bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent experience in saving the day) " Experience in fundraising, community outreach, or nonprofit development (cape-wearing experience a plus!) " Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (ability to communicate telepathically not required, but appreciated) " Proficiency in MS Office and database management (experience with donor management systems a plus!) " Fluency in Spanish or other languages (because heroes come from all backgrounds!)

Position Summary: The Development & Communications Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the organization's fundraising, donor relations, and communications strategies. This position is responsible for assisting with donor cultivation, event planning, grant writing, and managing the organization's external communications, including social media, newsletters, community engagement, and public relations efforts. The Associate works closely with the Development Director and other teams to ensure cohesive messaging and engagement with donors, partners, and the broader community, ultimately fostering relationships and helping to advance the organization's mission and impact.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in communications, Marketing, Non-Profit Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

2. 2+ years of experience in development, fundraising, communications, or related roles in the nonprofit sector.

3. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create engaging content and craft compelling grant proposals.

4. Proficiency in donor management software (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Boomerang, Qgiv) and content management systems (CMS) such a WordPress.

5. Experience managing social media platforms, email marketing tools, and website content.

6. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with attention to detail.

7. Sensitivity to HIV/AIDS, chronic illness, LGBTQIA+ issues, people who use drugs, and a strong commitment to the mission, vision, and core values of the agency are essential.

8. Must be available to work evenings and weekends as needed.

9. Must have access to a reliable automobile with insurance and a valid NYS driver's license that will pass DMV screening is required.

Key Responsibilities: Incorporate best practices regarding confidentiality into all job duties and communications in accordance with Article 27-F and HIPAA, ACR Health policies and procedures and other applicable regulations. Protect agency data in accordance with confidentiality procedures and protocols. Observe and abide by the HIV Confidentiality Law and HIPAA.

Development and Fundraising Support:

1. Assist in the development and execution of the annual fundraising plan, focusing on donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.

2. Maintain donor records in the donor management system and ensure accurate tracking of donations, acknowledgments, and follow-ups.

3. Conduct research on potential donors, corporate sponsors, and grant opportunities.

4. Support the planning, promotion, and execution of fundraising events, including managing logistics, coordinating volunteers, and tracking results.

5. Help identify and develop new revenue opportunities, including corporate sponsorships and partnerships.

Communications Strategy and Content Creation:

1. Assist in managing an integrated communications plan to enhance the organization's visibility and public engagement.

2. Create and manage content for social media platforms, newsletters, website updates, press releases, and donor communications, ensuring consistent branding and messaging.

3. Write impact stories, donor profiles, and program highlights that demonstrate the organization's impact and mission.

4. Collaborate with internal teams to produce marketing and promotional materials for fundraising campaigns and events.

5. Monitor and analyze engagement metrics for communications campaigns, adjusting strategies to improve reach and effectiveness.

Community Engagement and Public Relations:

1. Act as a liaison between the organization and the community, building relationships with local businesses, media outlets, volunteers, and community partners.

2. Represent the organization at public events, community meetings, and networking opportunities to foster relationships and raise awareness.

3. Assist with the coordination of outreach events aimed at increasing volunteer involvement and community engagement. 4. Manage media relations by responding to inquiries and proactively seeking media coverage of key events and milestones.

Event Planning and Execution:

1. Assist in the planning, execution, and promotion of fundraising and community events, from small gatherings to largescale functions.

2. Develop marketing materials, event collateral, and promotional content to support fundraising efforts.

3. Coordinate event logistics, including vendor relationships, volunteer management, and post event reporting.

Administrative/Other: 1. Support Operations Department by filling in at the front desk and directing calls as needed.

Preferred Skills: Experience in event planning, media relations, public speaking, and community engagement. Graphic design skills and familiarity with tools such as Canva.
