Job title: Sr. Director - Oncology technology strategy




Current Need:



The Oncology Tech Strategy Sr. Director addresses US Oncology community oncology challenges by formulating product strategies, overseeing development and evolution. This role shapes product vision, strategy, and enhancements, while collaborating with key stakeholders to establish product and vendor priorities. Additionally, the Strategy Director defines high-level product requirements, features, production functionality, and technology guidelines. This position may involve oversight of multiple products.


Operating as a player-coach, the Strategy Sr. Director embodies a strong leadership presence, guiding the team proactively. Within this role, you possess a deep understanding of our domain - the patients we serve - and demonstrate trust, transparency, and cultural insight, enhancing your credibility. You excel in presenting, leading workshops, and effectively steering new projects.



Key job responsibilities



  • Holds responsibility for value stream tech priorities, strategic direction, and success, prioritizing outcomes by market value. Manages business technology planning, enabling funding with finance. Defines, prioritizes, and delivers annual business solution value, including capital and non-capital initiatives.

  • Shapes customer-centric product roadmaps, envisions opportunities, sets KPIs. Executes product innovation in assigned value streams often through 3rd party technology partnerships

  • Evaluates, recommends, and drives vendor selection strategy with Clinical, Business, and IT leaders. Collaborates to modernize Vendor Portfolio.

  • Determines high-level product requirements, partners with Finance for market analyses. Collaborates with IT, Practice, Operations for product improvements.

  • Develops executive-level presentations, serves as product expert. Maintains up-to-date product roadmaps and collaborates on business architecture.

  • Partners with Practice Success to lead strategic efforts for Practices, conducts problem-solving workshops. Builds and mentors platform Strategy team.

  • Leads business technology planning efforts and presents the business plan to enable funding and business investment for the value stream (partnering with finance).

  • Provides input to product roadmaps that create value for customers and users; anticipates future opportunities, consequences and trends; provides overall portfolio vision and input to product-level vision; Develops Objectives & Key Results (OKRs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure product or product grouping performance.

  • Responsible for multi-year product and strategy roadmaps, define pilot programs, and product playbooks to ensure refresh of USON's Vendor Portfolio modern and compliance with McKesson Technology standards.

  • Partner with IT Service Managers, Practice leaders, Operations Managers, Clinical SMEs and Operations Solutions to drive tactical improvements on assigned products.

  • Develop sets of executive-level presentations on assigned products.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert to internal stakeholders on specific marketplace and product topics.

  • Collaborate with partners to create and maintain business technology architecture models & frameworks to reflect the organization's strategies and goals and creating and implementing business visions and goals.

  • Own the relationship and strategic leadership with partners, clients and internal stakeholders.

  • Lead workshops with clients and internal stakeholders to solve problems and unleash creativity.

  • Recruit, retain, and mentor a world-class platform Strategy team.




Critical skills required:



  • 10+ years of experience, ideally with 2+ years of experience in the healthcare space

  • Healthcare Services or Health-Tech industry experience required.

  • Management/strategy consulting, investment banking, product management and/or private equity experience required.

  • Experience on brand strategy (positioning, campaign development, briefings, creative leadership) and experience strategy (consumer journey, comms plan, digital expertise).

  • Experience managing people, and can act as a mentor across the department

  • Expert knowledge of agency tools.

  • Strong financial analysis acumen.

  • Strong communications background.

  • Ability to communicate with executive leadership.




Relocation is not budgeted for this role

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. Our Base Pay Range for this position



$163,800 - $273,000
