INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT TECHNICIAN - Student Co-Op (Pool)


Part-time, Days


Location(s): Shelbyville Main Campus, Franklin County Extension, Lincoln Central Academy, and Winchester Airport Campuses

We are currently seeking student candidates for the position of IT Support Co-Op Technician.



Summary


The Co-Op IT Support Technician works under the supervision of the Vice President of Operations and the IT Coordinator in installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners, and by responding in a timely manner to service issues and requests.


This is a part-time position and will provide eligible students with an opportunity to learn on the job while attending class at TCAT Shelbyville. Daily work hours are flexible and will not exceed 29 hours per week.



Minimum Qualifications


Applicant must be enrolled in the Information Technology Infrastructure Management (ITIM) program at a Tennessee College of Applied Technology, must have completed at least three terms with a grade of "C" or better, and must be approved to work by instructor upon successful completion of the interview process.



Preferred Qualifications



  • Comptia Sec+ Certification or equivalent

  • Comptia A+ Certification or equivalent

  • Comptia N+ Certification or equivalent



Knowledge Skills Abilities



  • Knowledge of a variety of computer software, applications and hardware, networks and operating systems

  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to deal tactfully with the public, students and co‐workers

  • Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly



Responsibilities - Support the IT Coordinator to:



  • Provide operational support at TCAT Shelbyville - Franklin County Extension Campus, Lincoln Central Academy Extension Campus and Winchester Airport campus.

  • Install, configure and monitor computer hardware, software, networks, printers, and scanners

  • Respond in a timely manner to service issues and requests

  • Provide technical support across the college (this may be in person or over the phone)

  • Provide technology training to staff and assist in setting up accounts for new users

  • Repair and replace equipment as necessary

  • Maintain wireless network and access permissions



Specific Duties - Support the IT Coordinator to:



  • Check computer hardware to ensure functionality including updates and maintenance

  • Install and configure software according to specifications

  • Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance

  • Review network and firewall logs and provide maintenance and security solutions

  • Develop and maintain batch files

  • Contact vendors for warranty repairs and work with technicians to resolve technology issues

Hourly Rate: $20 dollars per hour.
