A growing nonprofit in the Baltimore City area seeks an experienced Director of Finance
Duties and Responsibilities:
*Provide monthly financial statements that include a balance sheets, accruals , income statements, and statements of cash flow in Board of Directors desired format
*Provide cash forecast for six months ahead each month.
*Provide schedule showing amount billed by levels of service and the dollar amount of claims by patient that have not been billed as of the end of the month.
*A breakdown of the outstanding accounts receivable (both fee for service and grants) by payer as of the end of the month.
*Provide reports on loss revenue each month.
*Provide a schedule showing total bed days by level of service compared to billed bed days for the month.
*Generate a listing of aged accounts payable by vendor as of the end of the month
Prepare a report showing revenues generated by the stabilization center each month and the cost per month to run the stabilization center.
*Maintains an adequate funding base for the organization's operations. This may include raising funds through government, private and foundation sources and grants.
*Responsible for reporting, program forecasting and evaluations.
*Develops and submits budgets to the Board of Directors and funding agencies. This includes annual budget requests, as well as revised versions once notification of funding level has been received. Responsible for the interim reporting to the Board and to funding sources throughout the fiscal year.
*Responsible for scheduling and preparation of documents for annual independent audit and tax return.
*Responsible for organizational financial accounting. Responsibility includes itemized recording and tracking of organization's income and expenses, payroll, etc. according to generally accepted accounting principles.
*Responsible for ensuring fiscal compliance with applicable laws and regulations, especially for grant funding.
*Responsible for management of cash flow, and prudent management of organization reserves. Works with Board Finance Committee to manage organization's investments.
*Prepares reports on agency financial activities, including costs by program category or other relevant category for the Executive Director, Board of Directors and funding sources.
*Responsible for development of financial policies of the organization, including procurement, petty cash, etc.
*Oversees the bidding and negotiation for supplies and equipment for agency with budgetary approvals.
*Serves as staff member to Finance Committee of the Board.
*Responsible for overall management of billing procedures, including direct and third party billing. Assures maintenance of appropriate records. Responsible for assuring adequate relationships with third party payors.
*Maintains adequate accounting controls.
*Responsible for payroll operations, including maintenance of adequate records.
*Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual reports for the Executive Director and the Board that allow the organization to track financial status and manage fiscal responsibilities skillfully.
*Assists the Executive Director as required with special projects and liaison activities with other community organizations and agencies. May represent the organization's interests in the absence of the Executive Director.
*Participates in planning, including long-range strategic and business plans by membership on the Executive Team.
*Assists the Board and Executive Director with preparation of business plans as needed.
*Participates in team/staff meetings; attends in-service meetings and applicable workshops.
*Completes other projects and duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
