POSTDOCTORAL OPPORTUNITY AT MAGEE-WOMEN'S RESEARCH INSTITUTE AND THE UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
Under the mentorship of Dr. Mellissa Mann, one postdoctoral position is available at the University of Pittsburgh/Magee-Womens Research Institute. Magee-Womens Research Institute is the largest research institute in the US devoted exclusively to women's health research. The postdoc will conduct research to test the importance of NUP153 in establishing an active transcriptional compartment at ICRs during early development using stem cells. They will assess chromatin-associated localization of NUP153 at the Kcnq1ot1 ICR and other ICRs by assessing NUP153 occupancy across the genome with ChIP-seq or Cut & Run and allelic expression using RNA- seq in control and Nup153-depleted XEN cells. The postdoc's work will enhance the Department's understanding of how imprinted domains are regulated during early development. The identification of critical regulators that establish/maintain imprinting across multiple domains during early development is essential to understanding patients with multi-locus imprinting disturbances who suffer from more global perturbations in imprint regulation. The postdoc will be paid an annual stipend that follows the 2024 NIH stipend level associated with their experience.
Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, or related fields.
