Job Description:

UH Population Health (UHPH), in partnership with the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine, at the University of Houston invites qualified applicants to apply for a full-time, non-tenure track (NTT) research faculty position at the rank of Research Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Science. We are seeking outstanding individuals with research experience aligned with the rank of Research Associate Professor. The successful candidate will be a non-voting faculty member of the Department of Clinical Science who will work full-time with UH Population Health. Building a collaborative research enterprise elevating productivity in clinical and translational science, patient-provider communication, secondary data analyses, behavioral interventions, and quality-of-life studies within UHPH will be the primary focus.

Teaching and departmental committee assignments in the Department of Clinical Science will not be required; however, teaching and/or co-teaching one course in the Population Health minor will be an expectation. The successful candidate will have a PhD or other terminal degree in a population health related field, have a track record of health-related publications, and demonstrated experience in health and health care settings, particularly in patient-provider communication, quality of life, health disparities, and chronic diseases.

The Research Associate Professor will be expected to: (i) have a strong background in epidemiology and secondary data analysis, (ii) have experience with intervention development and implementation, (iii) have strong ties with public health departments, academic medical centers, and community-based organizations, (iv) develop grant applications in response to intramural and extramural funding opportunities, (v) conduct and assist with data analyses as needed, (vi) co-manage a large clinical and translational science grant, (vii) work with interdisciplinary and interuniversity teams, and (viii) collaborate on the development of scholarly manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals and presentation at scientific conferences. The position is grant funded and subject to continued funding.

- PhD or doctorate degree in population health, public health, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Experience working in a large, research-oriented academic medical centers
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Experience in working in and with interdisciplinary and interuniversity teams
- Demonstrated experience in secondary data analysis and/or epidemiology
- A successful record of peer-reviewed scientific publications, required
