POSITION PURPOSE

The Training & Development Manager is responsible for learning management system administration, providing training reports and tracking training, identifying training needs, partnering with subject matter experts to create programs, collaborating with functional leaders to create plans for career development from entry through senior executive leadership roles. This position tracks, reports, and ensures effective employee and leadership training is in place to produce a more efficient and effective workforce.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Employee shall perform all duties and responsibilities with Sunland's Core Values at the forefront.
  • Must be an advocate of safety and follow safety policies and procedures.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and HR Business Partnering on optimizing new hire onboarding and related training.
  • Partner with senior management including Risk Management team, IT team, Finance team, COO and operational leaders to identify areas of training opportunities as well as tracking training and providing essential reports to leaders for compliance and employee development.
  • Understand training needs from senior business and HR leadership to ensure prioritizing training needs which will align with the company strategy.
  • Present training plan, evaluation results, reports and updates to leadership.
  • Work with current Learning Management system or determine if other resources are needed to track training. Automate tracking where possible and provide reporting to leaders as well as push out training based on role.
  • Manage and maintain LMS platform - content, reporting, learning plans and regulatory compliance as applicable.
  • Oversee, evaluate, and edit existing and proposed training programs; recommend changes when appropriate.
  • Oversee Leadership Development and create training programs or collaborate with outside consultants and vendors to effectively present training programs for leaders and higher-level management.
  • Create and oversee all employee development programs including field employees.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of training programs through development and training surveys.
  • Seek out new and different ways to train different levels of the workforce including hourly craft employees.
  • Create and edit multimedia content including videos, e-learning modules, and interactive simulations.
  • Works effectively as a team member with other members of management and the HR team.
  • This role is an individual contributor position. There may be an opportunity to grow the team as the organization grows.

Physical Demands and Work Environment


  • This position operates in a professional office environment that routinely uses standard office equipment requiring the ability to communicate in person and over the telephone with other employees, the ability to interpret printed materials and a computer screen, the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, the ability to lift and carry supplies and files weighing up to 10 pounds and to move about the inside of the office to access supplies, office machinery, etc.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work


  • This is a full-time position. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel


  • This position may require travel to other Sunland locations. Travel approximately - 10% of time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Work Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Training and Development, Education or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in training and development.
  • Knowledge of the construction or manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with mapping competencies, creating performance management programs and linking talent reviews with the company's compensation strategy strongly preferred.

Required Skills/Abilities


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand training needs and design training plans to address needs.
  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient with Learning Management Systems and how to use them effectively with all levels of workforce in companies.
  • Ability to create training plans that align with the company strategy.
  • Organized with attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to partner with others in the organization. Includes all levels of employees from senior management, mid-level managers to entry level hourly employees.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of the team.
  • Must be fluent in English, i.e., must be able to speak, read and write English. Bilingual Spanish preferred.

Certifications, Licenses, and Registrations

  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean motor-vehicle record.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and background check.
  • Certification in talent development preferred.
