Job Description
Position Summary:
Leads product development projects and the evaluation of new technology for protein preparation.
Participates in the design and execution of research and development projects for protein sample prep including cell lysis, protein purification, protein clean-up, and protein analysis.
Serves as Technical Leader on R&D project teams to develop reagents, assays, and kits that support complex biology including membrane protein research and structural studies.
Collaborates with biologists and chemists to develop novel tools to purify recombinant and endogenous proteins from cells and tissue.
Develops & maintains in-depth knowledge of protein purification tools and strategies, membrane protein solubilization techniques, and protein interactions.
Key Responsibilities:
Designs and performs laboratory experiments independently
Leads the technical aspects of product development
Gives effective scientific presentations
Reads scientific literature and attends conferences to remain current in relevant fields and techniques
Collaborates with technical and commercial partners
Writes technical methods for production, testing and use of new products
Attends scientific conferences and presents work through posters and publications
Begins to contribute ideas for new products and improvements to procedures
Presents proposals and project updates to the PCP Steering committee
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Experience in protein expression and purification, cell lysis and other sample preparation techniques. Knowledge and experience with isolating proteins from tissue and other complex samples is highly preferred
