Join Our Team as a Manager, Value Stream Engineering!

The Manager - Value Stream Engineering is responsible for managing a high-profile team that leverages Value Stream Mapping to drive towards strategic goals and lead the integration of design engineering deliverables and operations to meet SQDC targets and drive a flawless new product launch. This role requires active knowledge of current manufactured products and New Product Development processes, working closely with concept and design engineering groups, functional support teams, and production operations. The focus is on developing and successfully executing a project plan to allow the business to meet SQDC product stability. This position is for a self-motivated, goal-driven manager who is an effective leader, displays an aptitude in Value Stream Mapping and process design, can communicate effectively, and can successfully drive projects to completion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategy Deployment: Lead a team of Engineers as part of the larger Value Stream Engineer group, which functions as the process development leader in new product development processes. Collaborate with TBI, product development, and operations teams to map value streams and plan implementation for improvement that helps S&C to meet larger company product and production goals.
  • Partnership with Product Operations: Partner with product operations and frontline leadership to translate new product requirements into concrete plans for manufacturing them at scale. Drive strategic improvement in meeting short-term targets. Influence and support the development of operational strategies that align with business goals.
  • Process and Equipment Guidance: Provide guidance, expertise, and influence on process, equipment, and production decisions to meet SQDC targets. Ensure processes and equipment meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Value Stream Mapping: Lead value stream engineers in developing a current state value stream map. Identify opportunities for improvement and make recommendations to senior leaders to incorporate improvements into strategic plans.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively across a wide range of stakeholders and steering committees. Develop specifications, identify opportunities, and solve problems through collaboration and consensus building.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Generate technical documentation, test procedures, and reports to document processes, ensuring plans can be easily communicated and understood by a variety of teams throughout the organization.
  • Leadership & People Management: Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team. Role model appropriate and professional workplace behaviors, address/mediate conflicts to restore harmony, and support a positive, healthy and inclusive workplace culture in accordance with S&C's mission, vision, values and guiding principles. Manage departmental administrative team member processes, including but not limited to recruitment, induction, vacation management, performance reviews, performance improvement plans, and workforce/succession planning. Proactively establish, monitor, and hold team members and outside resources accountable to clear responsibilities and expectations, provide ongoing performance feedback, both positive and developmental, address performance gaps in a timely manner, recognize and reward achievements, and initiate decisions for corrective actions and terminations where required.
  • Tooling Team Management
  • Manage and Develop team of tooling design engineers
  • Manage activity assigned to tooling department to support production and new product development
  • Manage tooling prototype team
  • Coordinate with tool houses to support tooling build needs
  • Manage capital associated with tooling support needs

What you'll Need To Succeed:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing

Preferred:
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Lean Manufacturing Certification
  • Six Sigma Certification

Required
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership role with experience in value stream mapping and process design.
  • Great project management skills with the ability to lead projects and product implementations that span multiple teams.
  • Sound leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a diverse team of engineers.
  • Sound business sense and analytical skills with the ability to use and analyze data to drive informed decisions, solve complex problems, and drive learning.
  • Rounded communication skills (written, verbal, listening, and presentation); able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, from senior leaders to support staff, and present compellingly to achieve buy-in from leaders and team members.
  • Great interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, navigate and resolve conflict, moderate behaviors, and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience.
  • Financial acumen and numerical ability to manage budgetary resources to maximum effectiveness.
  • Ability to travel.

Preferred
  • Demonstrate ability to work in cross-functional / matrix reporting structure.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in Automation, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and its influence on equipment and process design.
  • Demonstrate knowledge on Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) including autonomous maintenance, preventive maintenance, and predictive maintenance.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and implement lean manufacturing principles for operations.
  • Demonstrate knowledge in the Production Preparation Process (3P).
