Job Description:

As a Sr. Design & Project Engineer, you will develop and deploy projects by utilizing your engineering knowledge, skills, and related experience to transfer ideas into reality. You will be responsible for product design, support, and more.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Create industrial heating element systems. Take a concept idea and make it come to life conceptualize designs and select materials and processes. This includes internal and external technical oversight of a project from conception through production launch.
  • Prepare / quote effective designs, analysis, component selection, expected material yields, wiring diagrams, test requirements, performance, schedule, and cost information as required for existing or new programs.
  • Product Life Cycle Management, continuously review and improve and maintain existing products for product / process enhancements, this includes reviewing opportunities to eliminate expenses that do not add value to the process or product.
  • Work "hands-on" with manufacturing to resolve any problems encountered in the fabrication and / or production manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of business ERP systems, including creating / updating new part numbers, bill of materials, creates and/or change models, and drawings with minimal assistance.
  • Timely review and processing of ECNs, understanding of how requested changes affect the organization and customer. Embracing structured logic, including implementing standards throughout work, and continually driving to improve current standards.
  • Assumes ownership of individual projects and assignments and provides guidance to less experienced technicians or engineers.
  • As necessary, make technical presentations internally and for customers, including trade show technical support.
  • Review and update Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis (DFMEA). Perform engineering calculations or other analysis to ensure product designs and components support approved UL test files.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support the customer's, company objectives, manufacturing processes and quality systems companywide. This includes compliance with procedures, work instructions and completing all related documentation.

Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 5+ years of design engineering experience including metal fabrication and forming.
  • Design and develop applicable products with 3D CAD Model and utilizing various 3D CAD fit analysis tools.
  • Familiar with manufacturing processes (metal fabrication, welding, etc.).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively as a team player.
  • Must be disciplined in Structure and deploying products with structured methods!
  • Knowledge of Industrial Controls / Systems is preferred.
  • Experience in Aerospace Platforms, Industrial, HVAC or Railway is preferred.
  • Desired competency in UL 1995, UL 60335-2-40, UL 60335-1, UL 484, UL 499 and UL 1996 would be a plus.
  • Desired knowledge of Railway Industry Standards APTA-PR-E, EN 60077, NFPA 70 and NFPA 130 would be a plus.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office programs.
