Electrical & Automation Engineer

Onsite: Jefferson, WI

Initial term: 18 months (position expected to run longer / may transition to permanent)

Client: Fortune 100 Food & Beverage / Consumer Packaged Goods

This is an onsite Electrical & Automation Engineer to support a $200m plant expansion project in Jefferson, Wisconsin, which includes adding a new food production line, packaging and adding warehouse capacity. We're looking for an E&A Engineer with Process/Food manufacturing experience in drawing development, execution/audit, specifications, RFP/RFIs, construction execution, and validation of installation to 2D/3D models.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The E&A Engineer will support scoping, engineering and design execution, and implementation of electrical, controls and automation engineering for capital projects. The E&A engineer will provide oversight of engineering and design execution with company and 3rd party resources, and the engineer will provide technical support to the Engineering Team, the Factory engineering team, and the local Project Management Organization (PMO) engineering team, in support of the execution of capital projects.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Lead electrical, controls, and automation engineering and design for Capital Projects, working with a cross functional team of engineers that includes Corporate Engineering, Factory Engineering, and 3rd party engineering and design Consultants.

2. Lead the execution of electrical, controls, and automation engineering and design deliverables, including power distribution single-line diagrams, network topology diagrams, control panel layouts with Bill of Material and schematic wiring diagrams, safety logic tables used during safety validation, Division 26 and 27 construction specifications, and development of construction and integrator scopes of work.

3. Develop Capital Project scopes of work, support the creation of engineering and design project schedules from engineering through commissioning, and create requests for proposal (RFP) for Capital Project engineering and design services for the electrical, controls, automation, and integration scopes of work.

4. Provide oversight and technical support for the creation of project engineering and design deliverables being executed by Factory engineering, local Project teams, and 3rd party engineering and design consultants and contractors.

5. Support responses to consultant and contractor requests for information (RFI's) during engineering, construction and commissioning. Provide engineering support to the construction team during construction closeout activities and commissioning activities.

6. Provide technical coaching and training of Factory engineering resources, local PMO engineering resources, and 3rd party consultants on project execution and electrical and automation requirements.

7. Support the review and approval of project approval drawings and participate in Factory Acceptance Tests. Verify that the proposals, approval drawings and equipment meet the requirements of the technical specifications and the overall intent of the design.

8. Maintain working knowledge of company ways of working and engineering and design standards and guidelines.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum):

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field AND 5+ years of experience with control systems design in a food, beverage or industrial manufacturing environment, including startup & commissioning of new production lines (MUST HAVE).

OR

Associates Degree in Engineering or related field AND 7+ years of experience with control systems design in a food, beverage or industrial manufacturing environment, including startup & commissioning of new production lines (MUST HAVE).

  • Important - Working knowledge of Electrical Safety and Hazardous Energy Control Procedures (HECP)
  • Important - Working knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electric Code), electrical installation and wiring practices
  • Beneficial - Familiarity with machine risk assessments
  • Beneficial - Familiarity with power distribution
  • Beneficial - Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, Adobe Acrobat
  • Beneficial - Competency in Siemens PLC design, programming, and implementation
  • Required - Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Required - Must be able to climb ladders and stairs. Requires daily walking through a construction site
