Job Description:

We are looking for a talented Mechanical Engineer with expertise in building systems design and construction to join our engineering team. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and overseeing the implementation of mechanical systems for data center projects. An expertise in engineering principles, system design, and project management will be vital for ensuring projects meet technical standards, industry requirements, and client expectations.

Responsibilities:

During pre-engineering stage:
  • Conduct site survey, perform mechanical risk identification, support any additional preliminary works, test fits and gather major mechanical equipment budget/lead time from equipment vendor.
  • Design and develop mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other related systems, considering project requirements, industry standards, and energy efficiency.
  • Prepare detailed technical drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD software, ensuring accuracy, compliance with codes, and coordination with other engineering disciplines.
  • Select and specify appropriate mechanical equipment, components, and materials, considering project requirements, performance criteria, sustainability goals, and budget constraints.

During Engineering Design Phase:
  • Develop tender & construction drawings/documents, carry out value engineering, end customer approval process (CFD, Acoustic & Vibration, RFQ compliance, EHS compliance),
  • Incorporate customer's standard into design documents, drive mechanical owner furnished equipment procurement.
  • Involved with vendor submittal process and assist in mechanical contractor selection.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, vendors, contractors and other project stakeholders to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into building designs and test fits, addressing technical challenges, and ensuring coordination of MEP systems.

During Construction Phase:
  • Issue drawings revisions (as and when required), responses to requests for information (RFIs), perform site inspections as needed, drive mechanical commissioning process and mange as-built drawings.
  • For testing and commissioning plans - implement and review T&C plans, and apply relevant codes and standards of mechanical tests that are essentially performed for mechanical systems.
  • Perform quality control checks and inspections on mechanical systems, equipment, and installations to verify compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
  • Manage and oversee mechanical engineering aspects of projects, including budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and project coordination, to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering, and proactively seek opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree or additional certifications are advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering within the construction industry, with a focus on HVAC and plumbing systems design.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and engineering analysis tools, and HVAC load calculation software (e.g., Trane Trace 700).
  • Knowledge in fluid dynamics modelling software (e.g. PipeFlo) preferred but not necessary.
  • Knowledgeable in Air Side and Water Side HVAC design, BMS, Fuel Oil Control Systems.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical system design principles, codes, and standards, with the ability to develop innovative and efficient solutions.
  • Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, and contractors, to integrate mechanical systems into building designs successfully.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and regulations, such as ASHRAE, NFPA, and local building codes, related to mechanical systems and the ability to ensure compliance throughout the design process.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify design challenges, propose effective solutions, and make informed engineering decisions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to project stakeholders and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Proven project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development, staying updated with industry advancements and engineering best practices.
