Clinical Informatics Analyst II - Ambulatory/MyChart

Job Summary

The Clinical Informatics Analyst II provides intermediate-level support for multi-user clinical operating systems and applications, including MyChart and ambulatory systems. This role involves the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of clinical systems, translating end-user needs into optimized configurations and workflows. The analyst demonstrates advanced technical skills, a solid understanding of clinical practices, and the ability to troubleshoot and enhance clinical systems to improve processes and patient care. This role requires close collaboration with end-users, IT staff, and vendor support to ensure the effective delivery and optimization of clinical information systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • System Support: Provide intermediate-level support for clinical information systems, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and upgrades of software, hardware, and operating systems.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with system users, IT staff, other ITS groups, and vendor resources to resolve issues and optimize the functionality of clinical systems.
  • System Optimization: Assess current workflows and translate end-user needs into optimized configurations and builds of clinical applications to enhance efficiency and system performance.
  • Project Participation: Coordinate and participate in the planning, design, development, training, implementation, communication, maintenance, and evaluation of new and existing clinical system functionalities. Contribute to projects of all sizes, including system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Participate in the development and execution of standardized testing methodologies for system functions before production changes. Ensure that all system changes and upgrades meet quality standards and operational needs.
  • Clinical Liaison: Serve as a liaison between clinical departments and IT, fostering strong partnerships to ensure clinical system issues are addressed effectively and efficiently. Understand customer and department operations, ensuring systems meet clinical practice needs.
  • Training and Documentation: Create and maintain training materials and documentation related to clinical system implementations and maintenance. Conduct or participate in training sessions as needed to support system adoption and usage.
  • Quality Improvement: Contribute to the development and maintenance of a quality improvement program for clinical information systems, proactively identifying areas for improvement and optimizing system usage to enhance patient care and service delivery.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed on healthcare industry regulations, vendor technology advancements, and their impacts on clinical systems. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, such as HIPAA, and adhere to established policies and procedures.
  • Financial Contribution: Identify and implement cost-effective practices to contribute to organizational financial goals. Assist in the planning of capital and operational budgets for ITS software, hardware, and maintenance costs.
  • On-Call Support: Provide on-call support to end-users and the ITS department, serving as a resource to team members in areas of expertise.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensure/Certification: Certification in relevant clinical or IT fields, if applicable.
  • Education: Associate's Degree or Technical Degree. In lieu of a degree, extensive IT or Operations experience may be considered.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of IT application or related operational experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensure/Certification: Certification in specific IT applications, such as MyChart or Epic.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
