We are looking for a Swing Shift - Production Superintendent to join our rapidly expanding team in the Portland area. The Production Superintendent is a key contributor to the successful operation of the plant. This person will have supervisory responsibilities over Production Supervisors, Leads and all other production employees. This individual will be responsible for achieving all Plant Key Performance Indicators including but not limited to; successful line management, labor efficiency targets, and ensuring that all Environmental Health & Safety and FSQA compliance measures are met and maintained. Facilitate, maintain and uphold all Ajinomoto Group Principles, AFNA Purpose & Values activities, plant standards, processes and quality systems.

Responsibilities

Production Performance
• Achieve plant goals by supporting stable operations, seeking ways to minimize waste while increasing line efficiency.
• Report daily plant production/productivity issues and results to the plant leadership team.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.


Production Planning & Utilization
• Analyze and review daily production schedules and product mix and headcount to maximize target performance objective and perform within budget.
• Monitor planned production material requirements daily and communicate any needs or adjustments to appropriate plant leadership team members.
• Make strategic business decisions and capable of reprioritizing throughout the day as business needs change.


EHS & FSQA Program Compliance
• Provide and support manufacturing programs and procedures as written for all guidelines established in the QA/QC regulations.
• Ensure that the plant follows basic GMP and HACCP policies and procedures as identified by the USDA or FDA authorities.
• Achieve a zero-safety accident/incidence for all areas of responsibility in support of company established objective.
• Regularly monitor and communicate safety related activities which generates full participation by all plant employees.


Employee Training & Development
• Responsible for development of a highly productive leadership team by training, coaching and mentoring Supervisors and Leads.
• Create sustainable development plans for leaders to address gaps and growth opportunities.
• Ensure completion of all required monthly and yearly trainings assigned to production associates at all levels.
• Partner cross-functionally to develop training SOPs for your frontline associates and Leads.



Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree (BA or BS) from a four-year college or university; or at least five years of related production experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • To be successful in this role, experience and skills should include but are not limited to the following:
    • Demonstrated ability to utilize MS-Excel to analyze data and other computer applications such as MS-Word, MS-PowerPoint, and e-mail.
    • Proven ability to communicate in a clear and concise way to individuals at all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to give clear direction, and clearly articulate information, observations, and conclusions that can be used to make business decisions to individuals at any level in the organization.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills, be self-motivated, and a self-starter with demonstrated ability to work with minimum supervision.
    • Has experience with Total Process Management (TPM), Kaizen, or other Project Management experience is preferred.
