Job Description Summary

The Associate Director, Digital Content, Advancement Communications will work with University Advancement teams and campus partners, including Marketing and Communications, as the lead for the strategy, creation and execution of digital content to increase alumni engagement and participation. This team player is a creative, tech-savvy professional who develops compelling content for optimal social media engagement, leveraging data insights to drive results. Essential Responsibilities

  • Works with Advancement Communications director and team members to create and execute strategic digital content elements of comprehensive, multi-channel communications, serving as the primary manager of social media.

  • Partnering with department teams, including Alumni and Family Engagement, Annual Giving, and Donor Relations, develops an innovative social media strategy and content calendar that represents the Bentley alumni community, prioritizing increased engagement to grow the network and philanthropy.

  • Creates and ensures high quality content across platforms and that the content is current and relevant to audience segments, always considering user experience, best practices and the latest trends. Manages feedback and conversations to create ongoing connections with the community.

  • Connects with alumni and community members to creatively share their stories, collaborating with colleagues in University Advancement and Marketing and Communications on editing, timing, and coordination with other channels and mediums.

  • Actively recruits, hires and manages a team of student interns, providing direction and leadership on social media support and related communications tasks.

  • Analyzes and reports metrics to the Director of Advancement Communications. Establishes KPIs and benchmarks that align with department goals. Makes data-informed recommendations.

  • Plays an active role in flagship events and major campaigns, such as giving day, Falcon Weekend and reunions.

  • Assists Advancement Communications team as needed to play a supporting role with other communications projects, performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and at least five years of experience in digital marketing and/or social media. Non-profit or higher education experience preferred.

  • Highly proficient and nimble with digital platforms, related technology and social media, plus knowledge of other new and emerging platforms. Ability to analyze, translate and report on analytics and insights to apply towards data-informed decisions.

  • Proficiency with MS Office, Photoshop or Canva, and mobile/social media editing apps.

  • Detail oriented, with strong visual, written and oral communications skills.

  • Knowledge of marketing concepts, branding and trends for digital marketing.

  • Strong project manager with excellent interpersonal, customer service skills who can work independently, take initiative and be comfortable imposing deadlines.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with a high level of discretion.

  • Ability to produce high-quality work on deadline while managing multiple projects, priorities and deadlines.

  • Collaborative and collegial approach to working with teams; ability to work both independently and as part of a team with a demonstrated commitment to Bentley’s core values.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant experience and knowledge of higher education advancement alumni relations and fundraising.

  • Keen eye for design and ability to develop, package and produce content for a variety of channels and mediums.

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Occasional travel or event attendance, sometimes outside of regular business hours, to photograph events or manage freelance vendors.

Work Environment

  • Typical office setting with extensive sitting and computer work

  • Ability to travel around and outside of campus for work if necessary. Includes some nights and weekends.
