Job Summary

The overall purpose of this position is to advance the mission of the Electron Devices Society through Membership Development and Benefits which include Social Media Outreach Programs. The incumbent in this position is primarily responsible for Membership Development and Benefits, which include the various delivery forms of the EDS Newsletter (print, HTML, website content), key member-driven activities such as the EDS-ETC program (snap kit), maintaining/updating EDS's Social Media Programs such as Twitter, Facebook, Linked-in, etc. The role typically reports to an EDS Executive Director with (0) direct reports. This position works under consultative direction with the Society Operations Director and Volunteers on various channels of communication.

Key Responsibilities


  • Identifies, creates, develops and executes marketing campaigns to targeted potential membership segments to increase EDS membership levels and engagement with the Society. Creates and executes email campaigns, co-operative promotions with other IEEE Societies, manage event coordination at selected conferences and exhibits, web promotions and other marketing channels for Membership growth. Work with Volunteers to effectively communicate the value of membership through the development of print and digital collateral materials. Staff liaison to the EDS Membership, Communications, YP and WIE committees. (30%)

  • Works in conjunction with the EDS Newsletter Volunteer Editor-in-Chief to assure that the EDS quarterly newsletter is executed according to the production timeline. This includes interaction and soliciting of content from Volunteer contributors, overseeing publication layout and design created in multiple formats (print, HTML), managing the output from IEEE publication division and proofing final copy before deadline. Working with the newsletter oversight committee, coordinates editor-in-chief, regional and associate editor appointments. Provides reference and training materials for editorial board. Review annual production service agreement. (30%)

  • Interacts with the EDS Communications committee and working with an outside consultant, manages EDS' social media presence. (Initial channels to include Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram). Manages and provides content from other sources to keep Social Media Channels up-to-date and relevant. (25%)

  • Staff liaison for EDS-ETC (snap kit) educational outreach program in which EDS Volunteers provide onsite demonstrations designed to engage young students in the field of electrical engineering. Creates promotional collateral and awareness campaigns for program, responsible for distribution of educational kits to end users, inventory management and reporting statistics. (10%)

  • Other duties as assigned. (5%)

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Req


Work Experience


  • 2-4 years Req

  • 7-10 years previous experience Req


Skills and Requirements


  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as be a team player

  • Knowledge of nonprofit association management preferred

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

  • Ability to prioritize workload

  • Advance level knowledge of MS Office applications

  • Intermediate level knowledge of Adobe Professional

  • Familiarity with graphic design or experience working with designers

  • Advance level knowledge of the internet

  • Intermediate level knowledge of Joomla content management system

  • Knowledge of Tableau

  • Valid U.S. Passport

  • Some Travel
