Position Summary

The Director of Student Support Services is responsible for the overall organization and management of the federally funded TRIO program.


Salary Schedule: Appropriate placement based on experience C3 03 ( $47,322-$77,309)



Under Alabama Act 2024-360 and revised ACCS Policy 204.01-Appointment of Local Administrative Staff, employment in any executive and administrative management position will be governed solely by the terms of a contract. Non-probationary/tenure status cannot be achieved or maintained under the Student's First Act.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • The Student Support Services Director is responsible for the overall organization and management of the federally funded TRIO program. The Director will adhere to guidelines as specified by the Lawson State Community College Policies and procedures Manual, the President of the college, the Dean of Students, the State Board of Education, and the U.S. Department of Education. Duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Designs, implements and supervises activities in accordance with the approved goals and objectives of the program.

  • Develops and implements student identification, selection, and enrollment procedures for the program.

  • Supervises the program staff and directs the development and coordination of activities among staff.

  • Provides leadership to staff in assessing students' needs and providing appropriate services.

  • Maintains fiscal control of the program budgets and ensures compliance with federal regulations.

  • Develops and maintains an efficient record keeping system.

  • Maintains liaison with the U.S. Department of Education and the campus community.

  • Disseminates information and conducts activities that will foster an institutional climate that is supportive of low-income, first-generation college and disabled individuals.

  • Keeps cognizant of federal regulations concerning the program.

  • Represents the program by participating in college committees and activities.

  • Provides in-service educational activities and conducts evaluations of program staff and services.

  • Prepares federal and institutional reports and grant applications as required.

  • Provides statistical data on program enrollment, activities and outcomes.

  • Develops and coordinates an early alert system.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Qualifications


    REQUIRED EDUCATION, STANDARDS, AND TRAINING:


  • Master's Degree required with a major in Education, Counseling, Educational Leadership, or related field from a regionally accredited university.

  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience in educational administration, program coordination or similar administrative position.
