The Role




HII's Corporate Strategy & Development team is responsible for driving HII's enterprise strategy, including mergers & acquisitions (M&A), corporate development & partnerships, annual strategic planning, enterprise initiatives, strategic growth and international development initiatives.

We are seeking an experienced Manager, Corporate Development who will support all aspects of HII's mergers, acquisitions, strategic partnerships, joint ventures and corporate venture activities. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with the ability to quickly grasp complex business concepts and design financial and strategic analytical frameworks to guide HII's M&A strategy.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain an active M&A pipeline, including market research, target identification, and investment thesis development
  • Build complex financial and valuation models including public comparables, precedent transaction, discounted cash flow, accretion/dilution, and merger consequences analysis
  • Facilitate execution of the due diligence process, including collaboration with cross-functional internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop insights, analyses and recommendations, captured in high-quality materials for presentation to senior management and business leadership to support decision making
  • Collaborate across business units to support the development of business strategies and contribute to HII's Annual Strategic Planning process
  • Communicate and work collaboratively across the global HII organization
  • Prepare presentations for Board of Directors, executive leadership and investor audiences
  • Provide ad hoc strategic finance support and coordination with external stakeholders such as investment banks and other advisors
  • Assist with post-mortem analysis, integration planning and other ad hoc analysis


Must Have




Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master's Degree and 6 years of relevant experience



Preferred Qualifications




  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business management, economics or related degree
  • 2-4 years of experience with investment banking, private equity or consulting experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including complex financial modeling and data analysis
  • Prior mergers & acquisitions experience
  • Prior investment banking experience, including completion of an investment banking training course or financial certifications (i.e. Training the Street or other in-house training program)
  • Advanced financial modeling skills, including strong Excel proficiency and ability to grasp complex financial concepts
  • Strong project management skills and ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership on complex business concepts and structures
