The TRIO Upward Bound department at the East Saint Louis campus is currently seeking to fill the position of Counselor of STEM - Coding and Robotics.
Our primary objective is to provide an enriching educational experience to students in the fields of STEM, robotics, and coding, with the aim of cultivating innovation and critical thinking abilities through interactive, project-based learning. This position will utilize the Blumen software to gather data on student participation and monitor their academic progress. Our ultimate aim is to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their chosen academic pursuits, while also bolstering their self-confidence and instilling a sense of achievement. We also plan on conducting regular school visits to check in on students and recruit new participants.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Compile data for present students by utilizing Blumen Software. Plan, schedule, and conduct counseling sessions for program participants, maintaining documentation, and other duties assigned by
program director.Transport student to and from center when needed. Assist program participants with education applications financial aid, scholarships, and follow-up studies for monitoring and coordination. Attend, assist, and supervise program activities, while promoting a positive educational environment.
Work Schedule: M-F 8:30am - 5:30pm; every 1st & 3rd Saturday 9am - 1pm
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in either Computer Science, Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Software Engineering, Education, or related field required.
Knowledge and Skills: Proficiency in robotics, coding languages, and STEM principles. Ability to design and deliver engaging instructional materials for high school students. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to interact effectively with students and colleagues.
Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Certifications: In-depth understanding of robotics and coding concepts. - Familiarity with relevant software and hardware used in robotics and coding education. - Certification or accreditation in STEM education or related fields preferred. - Experience in teaching or tutoring high school students in STEM subjects.

Additional Information: This position does not offer work authorization sponsorship. International students at SIUE on F-1 or J-1 visas are not eligible for full-time or part-time civil service positions with permanent status.
