Our biotechnology research client, located in Rockville, Maryland is seeking immediate need for an experienced Controller to undertake all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, and development of internal control policies and procedures. This candidate's responsibilities will also include financial risk management.
Location: This position is hybrid 4 days a week in office in Rockville, MD.
Responsibilities:
Oversee all accounting functions, including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Project Accounting, and Revenue Recognition.
Prepare budgets, financial forecasts, and variance reports.
Generate and publish monthly financial statements in a timely manner.
Investigate technical accounting issues to ensure compliance.
Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes and participate in monthly finance committee meetings.
Manage state and federal tax compliance, including reviewing tax returns and filings.
Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to enhance internal controls.
Perform additional controller duties as needed
Requirements and skills:
Proven working experience as a Financial Controller
Over 7 years of comprehensive accounting and finance experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred
In-depth understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and procedures
Familiarity with Deltek CostPoint is a plus
