SUMMARY: Manage and oversee the accounting operations and ensure accuracy of financial reporting and effectiveness of internal controls. Leads working capital initiatives and is seen as the company cost expert. This position will also provide support for both short-term and long-term financial budgets and forecasts. Manufacturing business experience required.

Hybrid position. Candidate must live in the Buffalo, NY area.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.
• Oversee the activities of the Accounting Department for the complete integration of all accounting services and issues.
• Financial & cost account coverage for 5 manufacturing facilities.
• Ensure the timely and accurate month end/year end close. Provide necessary financial reporting and analysis.
• Complete and supervise all assigned activities as part of the month end close process; reconcile all assigned accounts monthly; research and fix any outstanding variances.
• Continuously review Company Accounting processes and the internal controls environment. Take initiative to drive improvements as identified.
• Lead interim and year-end audit work.
• Oversee all internal control processes and lead internal audits as needed.
• Provide oversight of cycle count accuracy and assist with physical inventories if deemed necessary.
• Continually monitor inventory costing methods.
• Educate plant personnel on key cost drivers and their impact on business goals and performance.
• Work closely with Leadership Team to develop and manage budgets and forecasts.
• Evaluate financial performance and assess risks and opportunities to deliver commitments for year over year growth and cash conversion metrics and proactively communicate to the leadership team.
• Work with business leaders, assisting with accounting/finance questions and problem solving
• Participate in completion of special projects as assigned, aligns with business strategies and forecasts.
• Respond to CFO, CEO and other senior leadership as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate their financial needs.
• Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
• Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
• Assist all departments with financial questions and problem solving.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises 3-4 employees in the Accounting Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Four-year degree in Accounting or business related field and must have experience in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

CPA designation is preferred.
