In this exciting role as an Engineering Manager, you will have responsibility for leading the Engineering team for the Connectors Focus Factory. The Brooklyn Center facility supports the design, development, and production of Connectors used in implantable medical devices for a variety of Medtronic businesses. In this role, you will gain experience with products across Medtronic's portfolio, supporting your development and growth. This role reports to the Senior Engineering Manager of Connectors and oversees and directs the work of a team of Manufacturing Engineers.
This position is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies in the Connectors Focus Factory to meet quality, production, and cost objectives.


  • Manages assigned production area to ensure the highest product quality and assure compliance to internal and/or external specifications and standards such as GMP and ISO regulations.

  • Develops comprehensive business strategies that assure the success of the organization and takes ownership for all aspects of the associated value stream being managed to meet/exceed business growth targets.

  • Manages the total cost of the value stream.

  • Employs lean concepts and techniques to improve productivity.

  • Provides leadership to the engineering organization within the focus factory to deliver supply, new product introduction, and cost down.

  • Plans and administers procedures and budgets. Makes budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures, inventory, and direct/indirect labor.

  • Participates in development project reviews to ensure products and processes are designed, developed, and transferred to meet appropriate compliance/regulation standards plus production goals.

  • Provides leadership to the production organization within the value stream to prioritize production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply.

  • Selects, develops, and engages personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the production function.

  • Provides coaching and mentoring to drive a culture of employee engagement and productivity. Includes creating opportunities to develop, recognize, and reward talent.

Must Have:

  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 5 years of Engineering/Manufacturing experience including managerial experience OR advanced degree and 3+ years of Engineering/Manufacturing and managerial experience.

Nice to Have:


  • Injection molding experience

  • Advanced Degree.

  • Experience working within a regulated environment (e.g., medical, aerospace, automotive).

  • Leadership experience in quality management system, FDA regulated environment and/or GMP.

  • Lean Sigma certification and/or demonstrated experience in lean transformation.

  • Demonstrated experience in change management.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead in FDA regulated environment.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$136,000.00 - $204,000.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
