Position Summary:
This position will oversee all computer and peripheral issues for the College.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Within the Department of Computer Science:
Serve as system administrator for all computer servers, networks, and computer labs
Manages the software packages/servers and computer maintenance/software deployment to support the classes, research and faculty offices
Specifies and purchases new computer equipment to replace old outdated systems.
Determines the disposition of computer equipment after they have been replaced
Develops and maintains expertise in a variety of specialized software packages, operating systems, and network server applications.
Responds to complex and specialized product requests from users by analyzing user needs, evaluating alternatives, and recommending courses of action.
Resolves hardware or software problems in response to user questions and requests for assistance by diagnosing the source of malfunctions, recommending corrective actions, and/or consulting with appropriate staff or vendor.
Configures and installs microcomputer hardware and software for users.
Installs software updates and coordinates with developer or manufacturer to resolve problems and may analyze computer generated products to identify source of errors and work with system developers and users to resolve problems.
Research new technology and methodology and evaluates new products to determine their usefulness to users in the Computer Science department.
Recommends changes or updates in programming, documentation, and training to address system deficiencies and user needs.
Trains other employees in system operation and maintains system instructional manuals and supplies.
Experience in all modern operation systems expected
Proficiency in Linux server administration and open-source solutions required
Manages and maintains departmental websites and serves as a liaison between the Computer Science Department and the College/University IT administration
Will report to the Chair of the Computer Science Department
Within the College of Engineering and Computer Science:
Manages and maintains College websites and serves as a liaison between College and the University's IT administration
Server/software support of ongoing research and classes within the college, provide support to other areas of the college from time to time, and collaborate with IT staff in engineering
Other job duties as assigned

General Days/Hours:
Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Additional hours as requested and/or needed Regular and reliable attendance
Flexible hours with respect to responsibilities. Some early morning, evening, or weekend hours may be necessary in order to provide service to systems during non-peak times

Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree in Computer Science or a B.S. in Computer Science
Three (3) years of related experience.
The postholder will be expected to teach one or two Computer Science courses per year (MS qualification is required).
