Director of Strategic Sourcing


The Director of Strategic Sourcing oversees demand planning and procurement systems across all divisions and leads the company's purchasing function. This role is key in managing supplier negotiations, analyzing market trends affecting raw material costs, partnering with internal departments to drive cost reductions, and maintaining supplier quality standards. The Director will ensure the procurement function transitions into a more strategic, value-driven operation.


Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the transition of the procurement function into a Strategic Sourcing team, including Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), category sourcing strategies, and business continuity planning.


• Analyze current and future market conditions to determine material availability and provide forecasting to business units, ensuring the company stays competitive.


• Identify and maintain relationships with suppliers who offer high-quality products and services at competitive prices, ensuring the highest ethical standards.


• Oversee supplier negotiations, manage third-party manufacturing partnerships, and mitigate pricing risks on key supply centers.


• Evaluate vendor quotes, utilizing negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and delivery. Plan and execute commodity contracts to secure essential materials.


• Establish systems to track supplier performance, ensuring alignment with company expectations.


• Design and manage inventory and purchasing reporting systems, optimizing total acquisition costs of raw materials and supplies.


• Partner with Product Development, Sales, and Plant Managers to develop and implement new products or solutions for customers. Lead or participate in the New Product Request (NPR) process by gathering requirements, researching options, and securing quotes.


• Fully own and control the demand planning process for the Agronomy Division, ensuring accurate forecasting and timely procurement.


• Provide leadership and direction to the purchasing department staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree required, with an advanced degree in a related field (MBA, Supply Chain Management) preferred.


• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in demand planning, procurement, production planning, contract management, or statistical forecast modeling.


• 
  Must have experience within Food Distribution industry.
  


• At least 5 years of experience in a leadership role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.


• Strong market analysis, supplier negotiation, and contract management skills. Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage complex sourcing strategies.
